12.5 sux

Are you kidding me, more problems lock ups, freezing I mean come on already version 12.5 and you still can't get this right. Why do we spend our money on a product we have to constantly trouble shoot every time there is an upgrade or a fix to fix something that should have been running a while ago. I was supposed to have a session the other day and thank god it was cancelled. This is stupid! ! ! ! ! i7 6 core with 12 gig of ram and freezing up.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Hi, 12.5.2 works great for me. If you could be more specific about exactly what is happening with you system then maybe we can help. Make sure you've gone through all the troubleshooting and optimizations described here:

Indeed, its not very stable here either. I get around most of the issues by freezing the click track(this is a must), VI and amp-sim tracks as early as possible. Once tracking is done, I slam the buffer to 1024 and get on with the mix(I will commit the frozen tracks, once I am sure they're done and ready for it). On my rig, 11.3 is steady as a rock, but I really am digging the freeze and commit options.

Pretty much the same here as with Dave. But the workarounds have become second nature and don't bother me that much anymore. We just need to adjust a little.

you're paying for workarounds?

I'm using whatever works. We all know software is not perfect and if you really must do all the upgrades you basically volunteer for beta-testing.

I myself have used every PT build released, and some unreleased when I was in the beta team, and I know for sure that some PT&OS combinations are more golden than the rest.

(
To be frank, so far I know of no combinations more stable than 6.4.1&10.3.4 and 8.1.1&10.6.8 -- There will be one for PT12 eventually, but so far features have won over stabilty
)

...so, back to the point, you can stick to whatever works or keep trying whatever the new build might be. Up to you. The new upgrade system encourages you to try the latest and greatest, but you will need to decide whether it is worth your while.

12.5.1 is running really solid right now for me. There are some bugs that get on my nerve's, but at least it's not crashing. Every other version of 12 I've used has been a crash fest...I'm scared to try 12.5.2...I'm just going to leave everything alone for a good while.

12.5.2 runs perfectly here. Even on El Capitan (10.11.6) - after the Komplete 11 announcement I left Mavericks for good (minimum system is Yosemite), and so far I've been pleasantly surprised by Pro Tools' performance.

I track in 11.3. Then I switch to 12.5.2 if I have heavy editing to do. It will get there eventually(I have always dragged my feet on updates):o
