Touch Screen Monitor S3L

Hi

We would like to buy a best compatible touch screen monitor for our S3L.

Which windows version exactly is used?

And how to install the drivers correctly?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks, Patrick

It's not officially supported, you could do it but on your own risk. You would not gain much functionality, maybe quicker shut down and thats about it :D

I would like to control:

- Audio Group, L/R assigning
- Phase Reverse
- EQ/Comp/Gate on/off
- direct access to Plug Ins
- Swap between the main menus

Shouldn't this be possible?

Im interested in working monitor models. And please I'd like to know the OS.

Best, Patrick

Both VENUE and S3L work on Windows XP Embedded. Altering software configuration is not officially supported and not recommended, so again - only on your own risk.

Even if you try that, you may have a lot of fun with installing drivers - XP Embedded is basically a cut down version of usual WinXP and it may not have some system components required for particular drivers. Basically drivers may not work at all.

Thanks Valentyn

Seems I have to contact a PC specialist.

Since day one I work on Mac only.

Any Monitor suggestions?

I ordered a Dell S2240T, a very nice one, but see there exists only a driver for windows 8. Will send it back......

Best, Patrick

Re: Touch Screen Monitor S3L

Never worked with touch monitors, but for many usual monitors "drivers" are just color profiles, which are not really required and are OS-independent. Your S2240T seems to have just color profile in Dell's driver. To have touch working, you must connect your monitor via USB and have drivers for touch panel. Dell doesn't seem to supply them, so it looks they rely on some standard drivers for Win7/8. This means there either may be some third-party driver for XP or it may "just work" as a HID device. Or not work.

So anyway - can't say anything for sure without trying a particular monitor.

SSE Audio provided our S3L with a touch screen. I don't find a need for it that often but it is nice to have. It can control all the features. It is an iiyama Prolite T2252MTS.

With a touch screen I could see a guest eng. on a system might accept the S3L if they are used to using a Profile or an SC48 console. Without it I wouldn’t feel comfortable finding my way around. And I went to one of the intro sessions for the S3L. I like the concept of the system but I am not a fan of the surface. If it had a touch screen I could see it being easier for me to use it. If it had a software update that made it more touch screen friendly then I could really see it catching on.

I installed a lighting console in a church and it uses 2 monitors and will handle touch screens, the church wanted both of the monitors to be touch screen. I really didn’t see the need and thought it was a waste of money. Until I started getting used to the lighting board and I absolutely loved the touch screen and couldn’t see using it without one.

Dear all

Got my IIyama Touch Monitor. It was plug & play. No driver installation, nothing.

And I tell you, this is a huge access improvement for S3L.

I'm amazed!

Thanks for helping me! Best,

Patrick
