PT 2021.7 GUI Freezing

Hello all,

I've seen various posts about GUI freezing - some on older versions and some on 2021.6. I'm running 2021.7 on MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.6. My GUI is freezing. It happens when I switch between Mix, Edit, and MIDI windows. The only way to fix it is to close all windows and then relaunch whichever window I want to work in. Sometimes the graphics look just fine, but the page is frozen and the mouse can't control anything, and other times some of the graphics are not where they're supposed to be on the screen or distorted a bit, similar to what others have posted in the past.

Anyone have any advice? Should I consider going backwards to 2021.6 or 2021.3?

Thanks for the input.

It seems to be OS glitch around windowserver daemon process, which means your only remedy will be a clean install of OS and every software you have (without using any automated migration tool).

Can you explain why? What you are describing is a huge lift for a lot of us!

I was also going to ask if this is the only solution. It does seem like somewhat of a "nuclear option."

Also, after posting yesterday I remembered that the problem starting occuring after I downloaded a third party disk utility, which never seemed to work correctly. It was the Gemini program in the CleanMyMac suite. I did a complete uninstall of Gemini, rebooted, and then opened a PT session I had been working on and that had been freezing up. After 30 minutes of working with it (mixing, adding some MIDI on an instrument track, etc.), switching between Edit, Mix, and the MIDI window, the GUI still hadn't glitched or frozen. I'm cautiously optimistic!
