Re: Asian Sun - complete piece.

thanks Roy,

yeah, I'll do some more drum stuff over the week. These are midi drums done on my old korg x3. Drum programming isn't my forte, plus I'm super lazy. Usually I get an 8 bar section and just copy it over and over because I want to get to other parts of the song.

I wasn't nuts about the vocal, so I wanted to give it an "understated" ( ) place in the mix, but I'll do another one and bring it up.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've got one more, it's called "convince me." Same link as my post above.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hi Adam
I'm using the TLM-103 and for our vocalist it works really well... but lots of people don't like it at all. It seems to be a very flat "vanilla" sounding mic and I think that's what some don't like. It'll show up what's bad about your voice/instrument, whereas many people like a little coloration to cover up certain imperfections
I've also heard it said that they they DON'T like budget preamps, so there could be something in that too.

You can listen to one of my tracks HERE but note that this was our test track when I first got the mic, so it's just a quick one take with not much thought gone into it. The TLM is on the vocal and the acoustic, and the preamp used is a Buzz Audio SSA1.1
Also note that I have not eq'd anything. i've only used some compression and verb.
There are other tracks on that site, but all the others are pre-TLM days.
Hope this helps you.

bertog,
Just listened to 'Le Parole Restano'...this is the first post here from Italy that I recall (Welcome... )...I like the song...the verse chords are unique and wicked...the guitar solo sounds a bit too distant, but you did a really good mix overall, in my opinion.
Will listen to 'Lei Cantava la Canzone' next.

Re:

Hi Roy,

Thank you very much !!

About the solo ... we have tried to search a different sound using a lot of effects on it, because we tried to add a little "confusion" (in italian we say ... casino ... ) and not a true guitar solo ...

Thanks again.

bertog,
Just heard 'Lei Cantava la Canzone'...another good job on the mix. Very unique production, and it's interesting to listen to lyrics in Italian. Good luck with your studio, and post more when you can.

Wow, what a fun night for me. My daughter's high school choir had it first Choral Concert of the year tonight. These kids are just a wonderful bunch of kids. One of the sub groups of the chorus are called the Madrigal Singers, my daughter being in it. In order to get into it, you have to audition a few pieces that are suggested, then you have to be tested on sight reading and then ear recall of up to 9 note patterns that the director plays and you have to sing it back. The result, is the following: (Mind you these kids are 14-17 years old)

This group will tour the entire year and are dressed in midevil wear, We had to have the dress hand made, from a design my daughter had to research. I'm flat broke, but man these kids are just great !

This is her dress:

Thanks for listening to me ramble !

Take Care,

Re:

Hey everybody, I have a slight problem here.
I have been downloading all of the songs you guys put up ever since Roy started this thread. And for a good reason.
I mix live sound for a living. Check out the link at the bottom of this post to see our rig(the site hasn't been touched in over 2 years, and we have grown! We've been busy). We do all kinds of concerts and festivals over the course of the year. Rock, country, folk, you name it. If I am not given some filler music to play by the promoter or festival staff during the band changeovers, I put in what I want. And most times, I put in your music. I think most mainstream acts have had enough exposure, and me playing them as filler isn't really doing anything for them. But it could be helping you.

My problem?

I don't know who you are! Almost all of the songs I have downloaded just have the song title. Some not even that. You need to take the extra effort and add all of the title/artist information when you create the file.

How does this help you?

You would not believe the number of people that come by FOH every show asking who and what music is playing. And I don't know what to tell them.
At the very least, you have a fan of your music that doesn't know who you are. Even worse, if you have CDs, you are probably missing out on a sale or 10.
Do me and yourself a favor and fill in all of the information.
Thanks,
Mitch
