Hi Xavier, There were just a couple of Midi string swells there, but 95% of it is from samples I created with my custom guitar in PT. I created a session that actually became an instrument itself, which I still use now. The Squier was used for just those few solo notes. thanks, Roy |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Hey Jamlaw,
I just listened to your other recordings - great stuff! I liked how you utilized panning to keep your guitar tracks interesting and to avoid monotony. The choruses were catchy and were very melodic for the genre. Which Mesas are you using - Dual/Tpl Rec's? Are you the guitar player in the band? How long have you been using Pro Tools? Also, where can I download the GRM plugin? Can you post a link? Thanks and keep up the great work, Gary |
Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
Allright Gzuz. I like the knowledge born. Your production definately has a latin feel that I can dig. Did I hear an accordian sample? Definetly Norte style.
Is anyone else doing hip-hop/rap? Most hip-hop producers I've known have allways used outboard gear but things are changing w/ programs like reason and all. I was able to make the transition smoothly since it mimics the old gear. I myself like a combination of both. Maybe this topic is for another thread, so let's bring on the beats. my beat |

GregJ,
Cool song, man...I like the concept and the chords...the elec. guitar sounds are great for this song. Good job... thanks, Roy |

Metaltim,
I like the EQ fade at the beginning of 'Under'. I can see where the izotope would enhance this effect. I really like what you played on the drums too...the toms work well to set up what comes next. Way to go... thanks, Roy |

matai/Matt,
Good job on this mix so far...it's hard to tell it was under the conditions you described... ...Nice song and acoustic guitar work...the only thing I can suggest without being there with you, is I would like to hear a little more bass in the bass, as in low freq.... but you're doing a very good job, IMO. ~Roy |

Greetings all. This up temp rock piece has an eclectic blend of styles from Matchbox20 to Sting and fountians of wayne. I'm sure you'll enjoy "The Ride" as much as I did engineering it on my 001 / ptle 5.1. Please feel free to pick it apart or add it to your play list.

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!
I'm the guitar player in DECONSTRUCT. I play dual rectifiers, but I used to have a triple, and actually think it sounded better. I've been using Pro Tools since probably 1998 - I got an audiomedia 3 card and we used to mix stuff in our studio to it on 2 tracks. In 2001 I went to Nashville and did some demos with a name guy. We would track and then at the end of the day, he would dump stuff down to his digi 001, go home edit and add production to that, then come in the next day and drop it all back to tape. So when I got back I bought my digi 001 and have been recording exclusively to that since then.
That bandpass plugin used to be free at GRM TOOLS but I went there and I don't think they give it away any more. Sorry. You can download a trial of their stuff though. The GRM Tools are my favorite production tools. It doesn't sound like any thing else. That cool panning stuff you liked - was done with GRM Doppler plugin. DECONSTRUCT |

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. It is much appreciated!

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
"Under" was pretty cool, my main concern is the quality of the vocals as well as pitch issues... it's hard to listen to at times.
