What software do I need for D-Command?
I have a blue D-Command, and I've been running a perpetual Pro Tools HD 12.8.2 on a late 2013 Mac Pro ('trashcan') that's running Mac OS Sierra.
I'd like to maybe buy a newer Mac (a 'Mac Studio' with Apple Silicon perhaps?), which obviously will come with a much newer Mac OS. Do I need PT Ultimate in order to keep my D-Command operating? Or will 'Studio' suffice? What about V-Control Pro (which I only just learned about a few minutes ago)? Is that what is required for a newer Mac? -dB |
Re: What software do I need for D-Command?
You need Ultimate. And as far as we can tell Avid will not support Icon surfaces on Apple Silicon machines. I would plan carefully. V-Control is useful but not a replacement for the full Icon workflow.
It works for now running in Rosetta on those Macs. You could just plan on that and ride it out. Or switch to Windows  |

And, if I understand correctly, another option would be to jump to Logic Pro and make at least limited use of the D-Command via V-Control?
