Comments in Edit Window Not Working in 12.7
 

I just installed PT HD 12.7 and I am no longer able to click in the Comments field to enter or edit comments for a track in the Edit Window when the Comments view is shown.

I can still do so in the Mix window and I can enter comments when editing a track's name, so I can work around this. It is just the Edit window where this no longer works the way it used to.

It's not the end of the world, but the previous functionality was much more convenient. I looked in the PT 12.7 Reference Guide (Tracks, chapter 13, page 228) and there appears to be no indication that the behavior was intentionally changed.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for chiming in, Chris. Perhaps this only on Windows 10 or possibly related to something specific to my system. I hope to hear from some Windows users.

Not a function I use, but I just checked it here and got the same behavior. Clearly a Windows issue.

there was someone else that mentioned not being able to Control- Click and open a Send Fader in the Edit window but worked in Mix window .. this was on Windows 10 as well i think .. maybe this is related ..

Sean, thanks for verifying. It appears that this is not just specific to my Windows system.

And based on Chris's and John's posts, this is likely an issue only for the Windows version of PT 12.7.0.

This is a problem on all Windows machines. You actually can add comments, but there is no visual indication. The workaround is to add them in the mix window. This has been broken since 12.6 for me.

Thanks, Kris75! Good to know that you CAN type in comments, you just cannot see anything until pressing Enter. And of course, double clicking a track's name allows comments to be added to the name dialog from the Edit window without having to use the Mix window.

I skipped 12.6 and went from 12.5.2, which worked fairly well to 12.7.0 which has been working very well so far.
