Importing tracks and disk allocation issue
In OS 9 versions of Pro Tools, when importing tracks from another session, the imported tracks would retain the disk allocation assignment that existed in the source session.
Ever since OS X versions of Pro Tools, the disk allocation of imported tracks defaults to the same disk that the session file resides on. Anyone know of a way to work around this so that the original disk allocation is retained? |
Re: Importing tracks and disk allocation issue
Are you possibly having to convert audio files during import? If so, it will typically default to the audio files folder for the current session to save the converted file. Just choose the original folder when doing the conversion.

Check Setups>Preferences...>Operation Is there a check box in the Automatically Copy Files on Import?

Re: Importing tracks and disk allocation issue
The situation I'm referring to is when I import tracks that I want to record on from a template. I want the tracks to retain the disk allocation that I assign in the template. So no, I'm not actually importing any audio files, just empty tracks.
Working on film music, it's common for me to import the tracks into 30-45 different sessions and I have to remember to change the disk allocation in each session, otherwise the audio files don't end up where I want them. |
