Ilok Question
 

Can anyone tell me if its possible to pull an old PT licence of a 1st gen Ilok. I would love to stick it on another Ilok and use it on an backup HD system in my studio but as I was not the original owner I am unsure that if I deactivate it that it will go into my Ilok account or the original owner (or just disappear into cyber space?)

Any help would be apricated.

The license key will work with the licenses activated into it, but unless you are the original owner (the owner of the account linked to the key) there is no way you can move the license out of the key. This is the downside of iLok license deals that are too good to be true. Sold as-is, if you need upgrade or if the key breaks, you are out of luck.

No problem.

The only way for you to get the license on your own account is to make a deal with original owner. So if you two agree, then you break the key, send it to iLok on behalf of the original owner, pay the license transfer fee for the original owner who transfers it to your current account. This hassle is what makes licenses secure.
