Hi everyone,

My friend and I just started a comedy project. Here's a link to our latest live recording (recorded through my mbox). It is rather rough, i hope to do a studio remix soon with a full orchestra.

Hey Rob,

I will try to tweak the threshold a bit more should I get around to remixing it... Perhaps the "thinning out" you described that happens early on is an issue with some editing not sure! Anyway, I'm sure i could probably mix it better. Like most things, I find that mixing can often be better if you take some time away from the project and come back to it after a while with a fresh set of ears and a more objective emotional perspective on one's performance... i'd like to EQ some of those "electric" sounding mid-high/high frequencies out of the km 184's as well...

To answer your last question, the KM 184's were set up in a L/R pattern- the left mic was about 12" away, pointed at a 45 degree angle (inward) at the bridge. The right mic was the same distance, pointed off-axis at 45 degrees (inward) toward the 12th fret of the guitar. The Earthworks omnis (a matched pair of QTC 40's? forgive me if I have the exact model number wrong!) were about six feet away, pointed in a straight a/b (?) pattern about three feet right/left from the center of the guitar, at a height of about 5-6 feet. i can't remember exactly, but I think this is about right.

Are you looking for recorded 'ideas' or just verbal ones? If it is the former, is there a way I could get a copy of the song? It just plays on that web link and I don't know how to save the file from that type of setup. Also, just to help me out, what key is the song in? Thanks!

macrOw: Cripple Creek sounded pretty good man. Couldn't listen to much more as my speakers at work are giving me trouble this morning here... had a nice old time jamboree type feel to it which was cool though.

Yeah, thanks for that you know I recorded that in my room with 1 microphone. An akg 414b-uls set to omni. 2 guitars, 1 banjo, 1 violin, 1 mandolin and an electric bass guitar thru a small practice amp. They all just crowded around the mic and would lean in for a solo. I have about 10 songs they did for a demo. Which they did every song in 1 take every take was a keeper. I think we did all 10 songs in about 2.5 hours.

nice man! tis always great when you have folks that know how to work with a mic to the advantage like that. The technique certainly has a great sound for the style of music.

Spirithunter: nice job on the track. Reminds me heavily of Alice In Chains type influences meets like a slight Marylin Manson metal twist in parts...
