Big Sur 11.4
Big Sur: MacOS 11.4 just released today. I upgraded one my test machine, ran a couple Protools 2021.3.1 test (large track count session, several plugins, virtual instruments). Everything seems to work as before, so I upgraded my primary machine to MacOS 11.4 too.

Re: Big Sur 11.4
I haven't seen them because I normally just use the built-in screen on my 15" MacBook Pro nowadays. If I understand correctly, the graphic glitches happen on external monitors (especially higher resolution settings). I did not see the glitches in previous OSs or Protools versions, so I'll probably not see them in this OS update. I was using classic color mode previously. I recently switched back to "dark mode" to try to get used to it, so If I see any glitches, it might be related to that.

Re: Big Sur 11.4
I have seen plenty on an iMac Pro ... Can't wait to update and see if we got rid of them finally

Re: Big Sur 11.4
Unfortunately the glitches are still there .... It's a Pro Tools thing after all ... eventhough the workflow is seamless ... those glitches are a pain in the ... shoulder

Re: Big Sur 11.4
Yah. I've been getting the glitches as well. pain in the shoulder for sure. lol

Re: Big Sur 11.4
From what I'm reading in these threads, the screen glitches seem to be more prevalent in Protools 2021.6 than 2021.3.1. And those on an M1 based Mac are having beachballs and lagging UI performance.
I'm on a 2017 15" MacBook Pro (Intel i7) with 16GB RAM using the built-in screen with Protools 2021.6 and I don't see any glitches. I occasionally connect to a 4K monitor (mirrored instead of extended screen) and have not seen any glitches but I'm not on that screen much. |
Re: Big Sur 11.4
Glitches here too.
I'm also have a cpu usage issue all of a sudden. Using for about a year without issue and now I can't get through a session. I'm assuming it's Big Sur because thats only change... anyone else having a similar problem? |
