Loid Static Noise during Playback

Hi,

Im relatively new to PT and need help with a problem Ive just encountered. I have been editing vocal tracks on a song I recently recorded and upon playback I am getting loud bursts of static noise(Like turning the TV to a non-channel). The noise happens randomly and at random points during playback. I havent had this problem with the couple of previous projects I worked on. Any help would be appreciated. My ears are still ringing.

I'm running a DIGI002R on a Dual Mac G4 with external drive. The song consists of about 8 tracks with maybe one plug in running.

Thanks.

Are you running any external devices that need a time clock? For instance a Presonus 8 Ch. lightpipe unit?

Yes.. I have a Yamaha 01v hooked up via lightpipe and a VS-1880 hooked up via spdif. I wouldnt think that those connections would affect or create sporadic noise during playback in PT. Are you suggesting I disconnect all my gear to playback a song in PT?
