Ok I narrowed it down ... Well when I go below 128 samples buffer size I start to get those Freezes ... I am running an Apollo 8p here and an iMac Pro 2017 ... so I guess it's a bug ... can anyone confirm ?

Well no problems here. Your computer might not be able to run lower buffer size.

We run 4 X APOLLO X8P and no hangs or crashes here.

I was also at 64 sample buffer when i was getting the freezes. But 64 samples works great (i track through several AAX plugins) on 2020.12, super solid (otherwise I wouldn't do it :). Every third blue moon it might complain about CPU power, but it's reliable enough that I'm used to using it. On 2021.3, it crashed within a minute five times in a row, not even recording, not even playing back, just dragging a crossfade...

Anyway, in response to your other question, if you're on Mac, you can just drag 2021.3 to the trash from the Applications folder, and reinstall 2020.12.

Give it a try and go to 128 samples and let me know if you still face any crash

does not make sense at all bro ! it's an imac pro 2017 ! i used to run 64 bit on a core duo cpu ages ago :D

Whats your harddrive you use for recording and what drive used for macOS?

Just because something worked on another comouter doesn’t mean squat as you have an issue and we are trying to solve it !!

And we made hitsongs that sold 10 million copies in the late 90’s on a pentium 1 but thats not relevant today is it?

External SSD for Recording
Internal Flash for Mac OS

I miss Pro Tools 7.4 :D

Internal drive, is that a Fusion drive!? Also known as both Flash/Spinner ??

Soo ... how low can you set buffer before it hangs?

What plugins are present in the session when this happens?
