Session ignores mic inputs
Here is one I cannot figure out.... One one of my sessions, when I connect a mic to any input(A, B etc...) it connects in the session without me connecting it to an input channel in Pro Tools!!! I have NO INPUT selected on the Aux or input channel BUT I hear the mic on that input!!! If I mute the channel, I still hear the mic!! If I select NO input on the channel, I still hear the mic!!! I can still record but the channel will not respond to mutes. This is happening on only one of my sessions. I created a new session and imported the session data to a new one but the problem still remains. Did I do some command that leaves the inputs OPEN? I hear the mic on input A or B and I have not yet assigned them to the input? only on this session??? any ideas???

Re: Session ignores mic inputs
Could it be because you have the "Input Only Monitoring" option on?
Look under Track > Input Only Monitoring. (Option+K on the Mac) |
Re: Session ignores mic inputs
Hi anothercolour.. thanks for taking the time to reply... no, it's not that... I checked but that's not it... This is very strange... I hear the input from the mic (pre amp) without any input assignment. I can assign the input and PT does record but I cannot mute or really control anything except from the pre amp. If I create a new session I do not have this problem. It's just this session.. something is causing this.. I just can't figure it out. Thanks again for the input.

Re: Session ignores mic inputs
Hidden aux tracks could do this. Check the track list on the left side of the edit window to see if you have any hidden tracks. If so, show them and mute, deactivate or delete as appropriate.

Re: Session ignores mic inputs
Hi Top Jimmy,
Thanks for the help... I did have some hidden Aux inputs so I check them. They were off, but I reset them anyway. Now everything is working fine. I'm not sure if the reset on the aux's did anything, but things are good now. I have opened and closed the session several times and everything is working the way it should. I'll keep both 'tips' in mind if I ever have this problem again. Thanks, Mike |
