X curve program-how?

Hi, I;d like to program an X curve on the master out of PT with a Plugin, but since the Xcurve must have a 3 db rolloff from 2 K, I do not seem to have an eq that makes a roll off slower than 6 db/oct. Any clues?

Re: X curve program-how?

you need to program in an x-curve that actually creates the appropriate cuve based on your room. If you just program in a perfect x-curve it won't be right... You'll need to eq the room to create the x-curve.. So, before going much further, grab a pink noise generator, and A claibrated mic or four, and an RTA, then set the room to either Dolby Digital or DTS specs for either film or broadcast suggested monitoring levels for all speakers using pink noise generated at calibrated level to align the levels while monitoring the RTA. Then with tune the eq using pink noise running thru the plug-in. You may find that whatever plug-in yor using may just work fine. ( or not. ) IF it does and you get the right signal levels from the RTA in the room you will also then need to re-adjust the levels as you go. The specs are on line at dolby and DTS websites. I recommend that you use at least 4 calibrated mics set up within the listening area. Send the output of the 4 mics to a Time Division Multiplexer and into the RTA. You should set the four mics up within the listening area at a bit of random distances from one another ( not eaxactly equi-distant .

hope this helps
