First headlines from the What's New document:

Aux I/O is MAC ONLY (Big Sur or later)

NO MULTIPLE MARKER TRACKS, though the amount of markers has been increased from 999 to 32,000.

Clip FX has moved from top to bottom of the Edit Window in the tabbed interface. (This sorta makes sense, as having this top and Melodyne bottom would have been absurd, but they need to have it in a floating window for multiple monitor users)

Everything is running smoothly here! I noticed the new version number of Melodyne (5.3). I'll be putting 2022.9 ARA2 to the test throughout the rest of this week! Exciting!

I just tested Melodyne in ARA mode. No loading time, opens up very quickly. Editing-wise though, I discovered some differences right away.

When editing in Melodyne previously, I've used the "Main tool" for splitting notes, and the "Pitch tool" to edit pitch transitions (the yellow lines between notes). However, previously I've been able to have the mouse almost anywhere above a note for splitting it, and anywhere near the note end for tweaking the transition, but in this new update I have to hold my mouse much more precisely at the "right point" for the tools to appear, for both splitting and note transitions, which is a huge workflow killer for me personally.

Running it on Catalina (10.15.7) a MacBook Pro 2019.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Melodyne integration is pretty special, it is not supposed to be 1-1 match.

Loaded PT 2022.9 on macOS 12.6 on both a 2017 Intel MacBook Pro i7 and a Mac Studio with M1 Max. Everything loads up so far. I still have some plugins to install on the Mac Studio but no errors when starting. Called up a few old sessions and the demo sessions and it plays smoothly. All Plugins seem to be present in the dropdown list. In general, no issues to report at this time.

I've owned Melodyne since it came out but never used it.
Since I use Pro Tools every day, and own V5 of Melodyne Essentials (Funny, always updated but never pulled it up-LOL Always used Auto-Tune Pro), I was able to install and I'm good to go. I guess I will be learning this now but, when you mentioned "it's not a 1-1 match" as the version that I have separately, what do you mean?

Thanks, Marc

Is Melodyne M1 Compatible as an app? If so, I hope that makes it easy for the Pro Tools transition to M1.
I honestly think everything is riding on the M1 transformation with Apple users, to be honest, and Pro Tools/Avid knows it. All of these side upgrades are cool but, M1 compatibility and how much CPU will Pro Tools take will either be a game changer for them as people are jumping ship left and right for more powerful choices like me or me staying and leaving those other brands and staying with Avid Pro Tools.

So I have two questions on this subject:

• is "Classic HDX" meant to distinguish from the Hybrid engine?

• Does the new Aux I/O feature handle SRC between CoreAudio apps that may be running at 48k and a Pro Tools HDX session that may be running at 96k? So far, Source Nexus is the only app I've seen that handles that gracefully.

I suppose I'll find out soon enough, but if anyone knows the answers it would be useful.

thanks!

Melodyne is neat but I'd rather have a floating window than that bottom docked/tabbed thing - I never used that for midi either.
