My plugin windows are black
 

Hi folks, long time no post.


I'm running Pro Tools 11.3.1 on Win 7 64 SP1 (don't laugh).


I had the PC built about a decade ago, it's still rock solid.


I'm having a problem with *some* plugins - after instantiation, the plugin window is black, and sometimes if I close the plugin window, PT will crash.


Other times, if I open a plugin (that had previously displayed with a black screen), PT will crash.


Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think you need 32bit Windows or PT12

PT12 is Win 7 64 bit only I believe (not Win 10)?

Thanks Janne, I checked the compatibility chart, both PT11 and PT12 are compatible with Win 7 64 bit SP1, or so it seems.



PT11 is 64 bit only I believe.

Your OP mentioned 11.3.1 which as I read the chart is not supported on 64bit Windows

PT11 is 64 bit only, PT10 was the last version to run on 32 bit Windows

Sigh, don't get confused about 32/64 bit application and 32/64 bit operating system. You need PT12.0.0 or later if you want to use 64 bit Windows, you need 32 bit Windows if you want to use PT11.3.1

This is from the Avid Knowledge Base - Pro Tools 11 System Requirements:

• Pro Tools 11 requires 64-bit Windows operating systems.

I've had PT11 running on Win 7 64 SP1 for years, no problems until the recent black plugin window issue.

Alright then, I stand corrected perhaps, Avid needs to revise one of the documents mentioned. What do I know, Mac-only guy.. just reading documents. The compatibility page says "Windows 7 SP1" for 11.3.1, does not say 64 bit which it says for 12.0 and later
