Network Drive Disconnection
My Protools rig has a few network drives available so I can transfer files from other PCs. But if one of the PCs shutdown while protools is running it locks for about 2min with a spinning beach ball. The mac still responds but ProTools can't handle it.
Anyone have a fix for this. Happened in PT10 and 11 across Snow Leopard, Mt Lion and Mavericks |
Re: Network Drive Disconnection
Yeah. It is probably not a good idea to have drive appear and disappear while Protools is running. Protools is very fussy that way. It might be a good idea to disconnect all networked drives before running Protools. You can always copy files after quitting Protools and reconnecting to the network drives.

Re: Network Drive Disconnection
It usually raises is head when I'm running a source connect session. I like to disable the network adapter on my pc so it doesn't start some random update and steal bandwidth.
Getting the mac to see the network drives again can be a real PITA. The funny thing is, I've never used the drive to feed protools, so i thought it should be able to ignore anything that isn't a recording drive. |
Re: Network Drive Disconnection
Just wanted to say been having the same issue. ProTools needs smarter code over this - basically, if a networked drive disconnects it shouldn't crash protools. Major software flaw. Super annoying.
