Windows Audio Driver in PTHD9??

Hi,
Just installed v9 HD on my HD3 Accel rig and noticed that there still doesn't seem to be support for Windows Audio Drivers in Windows 7 64. Is this coming? Thanks!
Best,
Martin Trum

Did you purchase the software online?

There is a driver disk that should contain all of the drivers.

Once you activated the software on you my digi account all of the downloads should be made available to you.

Once you activated the software what was sent to your ilok account?

What licenses and how many?

Yes, I purchased the download which includes 2 versions of the installer: 1 full installer and 1 upgrade (for previous installations). That's all that shows up in my Avid account. I have v9 running on Win7 64, just no Windows Audio Drivers. After scouring Avid's support website, there appears to be no drivers to download for Windows / HD... only for LE and M-Audio interfaces. I guess I foolishly assumed that the Windows Audio Driver was part of version 9. I'd love to use my Omni with other software too...

There should be a driver disk.

The packaged version has a driver DVD that contains drivers for all hardware.

What licenses did they send to your ilok account?

Thanks for the help.... however as you can see here: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=379411 there is no download for HD drivers on Windows... only Mac. To be clear, I'm looking to use standard Windows apps (Media Player, iTunes, etc) with my HD hardware... not ASIO. Are you able to use them? Does the driver disk specifically include an HD driver for Windows? If so, perhaps Avid simply forgot to include a link.

Thanks!

BTW, these are the licenses they sent me:

Pro Tools HD 8 in bundle Pro Tools HD 9
Pro Tools 9 in bundle Pro Tools HD 9

I will look on the driver disk when I get to the studio. There has to be a win 7 driver. I will let you know shortly.

Nope...you can't access stock Windows drivers (MME, WDM, DirectSound, etc.)...only ASIO. M-Audio and Avid/Digidesign devices will get native PT drivers laid down by the base PT9 installer, no separate download needed. For ASIO, the driver is provided by the manufacturer of the sound card. Most onboard sound cards don't have ASIO drivers, period.

That being said, you may want to try using the ASIO4ALL driver that exposes an ASIO interface for any sound card that has a WDM interface (including pretty much all stock audio cards).

See http://www.asio4all.com/ for details. There's more overhead than if you just had a vendor-provided ASIO driver, but it works. You can even use ASIO4ALL to aggregate multiple Windows drivers together under a single ASIO interface like you can do on a Mac with Core Audio, although it doesn't necessarily mean that all the interfaces will be in sync with each other.

Re: Windows Audio Driver in PTHD9??

Thanks for the info... however all I'm trying to do is play back Windows Media or iTunes through my HD hardware... like we could do in XP. I'm not looking for ASIO. However, on my 003r there are drivers that allow the 003 to be selected as the default playback device in Windows 7. Strange that this feature doesn't exist on HD...
