Problem with hardware and pro tools academic version

Hi, I just got the pro tools academic version installed on my windows xp. I bought M-audio fast track. They came together actually and I knew the two to be compatible. However, when I fired up Pro tools for the first time it keeps saying that it can't locate digidesign hardware even though my fast track is connected and working fine. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is there some other hardware that I"m missing in this chain?'Are they not compatible? Thanks!

You need to re-install Pro Tools Academic. When given the option, choose Standalone installation.

Thank you. I did what you said, but it still is asking for the hardware and saying that it can't find it. Any other suggestions?
