Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
 

Hi,

I'm trying to establish the cheapest way of upgrading from PT11HD to PT Ultimate. Can anyone advise please?

I see PT11hd works with windows 10 and am keep to look at the pc route if Mac is not a viable option.

You need to find a reseller that can sell you a Reinstantment (of Support and Update Plan). Avid stopped selling those last year. If you cannot find one, you need a new license.

No. Renewal is for active Support and Update Plan, to extend its time for another year. Your plan is lapsed so you need "reinstatement".

You need to call your reseller. Avid does not sell those any longer so if they have old stock they let you know on phone.

I will do that.

I know PT HD11 works with windows 10 so I may switch to windows if I want a more powerful machine.

Shame as I like Mac OS X but I would rather spend the money on a new machine than a stupid software upgrade license that's so unnecessary that's its laughable.

Have spent tens of thousands of pounds on avid hardware. This is just a kick in the face.

Don't know about working, but at least is not supported. Compatibility info here.

It has compatibility mode so should be ok.

Will probably be buggy though. Plugins will likely be the bottleneck.

Ok off I go to find yet another license code in 2 years to fill avid's ever so empty pockets..

Okay so upon looking in to this further. I need Pro Tools Ultimate Crossgrade.

It's available at the bargain price of £600 GBP.

A couple of professionals I work with occasionally told me they switched to studio one because updating with avid is tedious and expensive. I thought they were kidding me and figured I would not need to upgrade any time soon, then bam!

I'm going to have to think this one through. I'm not entirely sure this is working out Avid.
