Computer fan noise? try this to help...

Hi,

Only recently discovered these apps for controlling the fans in your computer. can be set to manual speed or set to a schedule or manually turn on full to cool down during a break etc.

Macs Fans Control... free version does most of what you need

For PC...

AngusMonitor... about $12/ £10 a year, or less for 3 years sub

Obviously be careful and keep an eye on the temp display. both apps have a temp display so keep checking especially when you start to use them and get an idea of what temps you're running!!!

Another little tool that I find helpful is:
Turbo Boost Switcher for OSX / macOS

It's a simple menu bar item that lets you know the CPU load, fans speed, and temperature.

I find that I keep turbo boost off under light load and get around 60C instead of around 80C.

I’ve been using MacsFan Control for a year.

It does help with reducing HDX fan noise. I’m on a 7.1 Mac Pro and the HDX card is the only thing I can hear. I set the Mac fan nearest the card to 1000rpm (one of the three big ones at the front of the chassis.) You can hear it but it’s a LOT less intrusive and annoying than the high pitched HDX fan. The HDX fan still comes on under heavy load but a lot less frequently.
