Typical of a company like NIKE to take a cool thing and claim it as their own. Offended? NO! Do I think they are lame? YES! Was the production good? I thought it was put together well.

certianly the production was good, but as being offended, i'm sure this is a "like father like son" case meaning that jesus didn't wear NIKE he wore sandals and everyone knows that most carpenters wear boots nower days

Plastik,
Hey, I liked it. Not at all too long for me, but everything I've worked on in the last 3 months is 7 minutes or longer.

I really heard this more as 3 separate pieces. They go together nicely. Sort of like a cool grouping of songs on a CD.

Take care,
Mark

Josh,
Good work. Nice pop song. Fun.

On the song, you might consider doing the 1st & 2nd chorus's (My frinds think that...) as 4 lines instead of 8 both time, and then the 3rd time you go there, do all 8 with the doubling you did.

Great work. Post more. I liked it.

Mark

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hey guys and gals. I gotta new tune to post here. Its located here at this page.

The song is the 3rd or 4th song down, its called:
"Snowman waiting for the sun." I guess it is supposed to convey the feeling of hopelessness, like no matter what you do, your days are numbered. Perhaps hopelessness is the wrong word, maybe im looking for the word fate.
I dont know why, but thats the particular feeling I got from it. As many of you know, my stuff tends to be long. And this song is long. I will let you know that once you get to about 5:30 in the song, there really isnt much more to here, even though its 6:30. I was in the feeling, had my eyes closed, and just played the electric guitar for an extra minute or so. I could have cut it off, but I chose to keep it. Please, let me know what you think. This is a slow song, not a fast one. And its mostly acoustic, not 'too' much electric stuff.

Acoustic guitar
Electric guitar
Wurly
Simulated Grand Piano.

Thanks.
=-Ben

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hi everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is Nathan Stack, and I just released my first independent CD, "Shooting the Decoy." Though I've been writing and recording demos of rock/pop music for years, this marks my first real release (although it was not done through a label; it's 100% independent).

I describe my music as intelligent yet accessible rock/pop. I wrote, played, sang and recorded everything on the album, and I did it using a Digi001 on a PC. This album was actually the first thing I ever recorded using Pro Tools. I went straight from the cheapest cassette four-track on the market to Pro Tools, which is quite a learning curve. Because this was the first project I ever did with Pro Tools, the sound quality is hardly flawless, but compared with my four-track demos, it sounds wonderful.

Anyway, enough talking about it. I'd love it if you all would give it a listen. Here are some links.

My official site
My mp3.com page
My mailing list

You can listen to all the songs from the album in their entirety on my mp3.com page. You can learn a lot more about me and my music at my official site, and you're all welcome to join my mailing list. A warning: The clips on mp3.com are not as high a quality as the CD.

If you listen to my stuff, you're welcome to tell me what you think. Just email me at [email protected] .

I hope you enjoy it.

okay, no one listened to this before, but maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Check out Billie's bounce.

This is two overdubbed guitar parts. The accompaniment track was a Gibson L4, a Fender super reverb with an sm 57 right at the speaker.

The lead track was the same guitar, polytone mini brute, sm57 right at the speaker, AKG C1000s a foot or so from the neck of the guitar.

There's about an 8 second delay before the song starts.

badperson -

These mixes are pre-mastered. But I'll take that question as a compliment.

I take mixing very seriously, as I think it's the single most important part of the recording process (from an engineering standpoint).

Starting out with great tones, performances and songs help, but if you don't mix them properly, no one will want to listen.

I mix the way a novelist would write drafts. I'm constantly mixing while tracking, and every time I mix, it's as if it were the final mix. I then take time away from the mix, monitor it on several systems and start all over again.

Jorge,
I finally got a chance to stop and listen to your latest stuff. You're a hell of a drummer, man... some of those kick parts must be programmed (are they?), or else you've got the fastest feet I may have ever heard (especially on 'Never'). I like the low tuned guitars on 'Feel' too. And of course, 'Dripping' kicks...
There's something about the Primate productions that I like a little more than the Brutal Masication stuff, but they're both great.
As I've said before, metal is not my forte, but I appreciate anything that's done well.
Good stuff, man...

~Roy

p.s.I've got some catching up to do with the rest, so maybe tonight I'll get a chance...
And thank you too, Skip.

Have you ever considered writting for high end video games? The infusion of techno with your slide work is SO atmospheric, I could really see your music fitting in well within that genre. Great stuff once again!

This short 2min. production is the theme song for a public access TV show we did this summer starring a 13 year old who reveals happening places around Orange County California for a teenage audience. Evan Saucedo, the talented actor/singer sang the lead on the track.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks for the kind words, Roy

The difference between the 2 productions (I think)lies in the recording. Primate`s stuff was recorded in a class A type studio while Brutal`s stuff was recorded in a warehouse straight to PT.

Oh about my feet, that IS me playing all the parts (we used to practice 5 times a week!). I did trigger the kiks to get that sound and I did fix a couple of spots where my left foot lagged a little behind. So did I program from scratch? NO, but I did use MIDI to ¨enhance¨ my performance. I must add that I didn`t ¨add¨ any notes I didn´t play, just nudged a couple of them

I know this isn`t your cup of tea and I truly appreciate your comments.

thanks!

cheers,

jorge

jorge, i dont tend to listen to music as heavy as yours but i really, really liked "FEEL", and i also liked the second persons vocals on either "zonning" or "rumors".....i think you should use those vocals more for your next softer/lighter song.

Pako 08-11-2002 11:09 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Good stuff in here!!! This is my first public post of recorded material here....so here goes.

Just a little history about this jam, that's just it, a total live jam in my studio, totally inprompto.... That's my bro on the guitar, running D.I. using the samsamp plugin. I'm running D.I. with my fretless, while the drummer being the only one mic'd.

A little something about the drummer, this is the first time we had ever jammed with him, and happened to be the first thing recorded with him. I hope to continue the obvious musical connection we have and actually write some stuff, practice it, and really produce something..

Anyhow, without further adoo:

http://www.blueonion.net/media/pako-on-the -train.mp3

This next song was done by a Death Metal Band that I recorded. The drums were recorded completely live with no triggers. There coming back in the studio to do the whole CD with drum triggers in hand, so the kick should be a lot easier to achive the desired results..

http://www.blueonion.net/temp/BRMP.mp3

Thanks again to those who helped with this mix!!!

BRB,
Thanks so much. Other than playing on sessions, the closest I've done to hi end video was playing slide on one of the IMAX productions a while back (on mountain climbing). But like most gigs, it's a matter of opportunity. It would be cool to do that too.
I'm looking forward to the new mixes you're doing, but take your time...

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

bi0force1, thanks so much!!

I`ll tell the guy`s you liked Pudu`s vocals (he will be so proud he he he)

Roy, I hadn`t actually compared the two projects! duh!
I mean I never listened to mixes from the 2 projects back to back!

After reading your comments I went home and listened to ¨Never Thought¨ and ¨Dripping Gash¨ and then listened to ¨Rumors¨...........hhhmmmm
Maybe you liked Primate more because its much more ¨musical¨ and the vocals vary in tones, whereas Brutal is just that, simple, brute.....
as far as the mix......hhhhmmm I think I might`ve crammed Brutals` stuff through the limiter a little too hard? the drums don`t seem as punchy, typical when overlimiting....
Another thing that bothers me on the drums is that I went from 24 bit to 16 bit (recorded the drum mix thropugh an AMII card on an old Mac and PT 4.0), and then back to 24 bit. Problem is the drum mix suffered levelwise, lost bottom end so I had to do some touching up .....

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

I just got a chance to go through and listen to some recent stuff, and wanted to mention how good some of it is...

jbartunek/Josh- I think 'My Friends' is a great song. Reminds me of a girl I used to 'see'... Great vocals.

LoganM- Man, I don't know if anyone else heard this excellent music of yours, but all 3 songs kill. 'You're Right' is my favorite...I love the vocals, the bass sound, the breakdown, etc. My second fave would be 'Kill Your Radio', I think, but all 3 are exceptional songs, and I wish you the success you deserve with them.(They definitely merit a record deal, IMHO)

Plastik909- This is a good piece (or should I say pieces?, because it could be divided up into 3 entities). I did a little lifting as I listened and it was perfect... Very driving. Good job.

Dr. John- Cool chord changes and vocal treatment on 'Take by Take'. Nice song man... Interesting dynamics. Keep on creating...

BRB/Jackson- Your vocals are great as usual on the Vital Factor/'Tie' cut. Is that your wife singing with you on this venture? Good mix, too...

GWvox- 'Somewhere Further South' is really refreshing, man. The main music theme in the verses lays down a cool aura (tremelo guitar used very well). And great singer man, very real...
Good work IMHO.

Danyl- Really great stuff man. I could compare Raid to a couple of groups, but they're unique enough not to have to do that. 'Cube' is wicked, man... a production to be proud of.

badperson-Sorry, but couldn't get yours to open for me. I'll try again later though...

That's all I had time for, and I appreciate you guys posting such interesting and creative stuff.

Thanks, Roy
