MBox2 Mini Problem on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.3
I have bought a new MacBook Pro Core i5 and using MBox2 Mini as primary sound card driver. Running a Pro Tools 8.0.3 Software. MacOSX Version is 10.6.3 Snow Leopard.
When I use iTunes to play some music, (has been set MBox2 Mini USB as primary sound device) it's works fine but after few second, sound gone...... No Sound and keep on loading process for a long long time. I need to unplug the USB cable and everything back to normal. When I plug back the USB cable of my MBox2 mini, just play some music or sound, happening again........ It's same situation happen when i using pro tools 8.0.3 and I have tested on Windows OS and It's work fine on it. Can anybody tell me what's happening of my MBox2 Mini? I have been reinstall Pro Tools Software for twice. Eric Leung |

I don't know if this would make a difference in your situation (I'm not a tech, just the forum admin), but I did notice that there are upated components in the latest Pro Tools LE update for Snow Leopard that may apply:
Pro Tools LE 8.0.3cs2 Update for Mac Installs the following: Pro Tools LE.app (v8.0.3cs2) DigidesignMbox2.kext (v8.0.3cs2) Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin (v8.0.3cs2) |

Re: MBox2 Mini Problem on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.3
Keep in mind that the i5 and i7 Macs are not currently qualified for use with Pro Tools.
That being said, try the following: Try every USB port. Disconnect any other USB devices. Disable airport and bluetooth. Follow all the general Mac troubleshooting steps in the link below. Best of luck, |

Also note that none of the AVID/Digidesign USB audio interfaces are hot swappable. It can damage your USB port on either the interface or the Mac. So I would immediately stop that. Only disconnect or connect the interface when the Mac is off.

I tried all 3 USB ports on my MBP. The one most far from the screen worked, so good tip. Would think they were all the same??
