Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Yeah, Roy, you have to right click on the link he put in the DUC. I thought I did that earlier, but I didnt.

-Tim, The drums are pretty clear(and definately XP drums, hehe, I use to have one), as well as the vox are pretty good and clear, but the guitar seems a bit muddy. While, its not my cup of Tea, I think the song could sound really good if you cleaned up the guitars a bit, and kind of took away some of the REAL up front items, like the chorus voice.. Keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, the bridge sounds really good too. Probably my favorite part.

metaltim 10-07-2002 03:55 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Sorry guys... I didnt realize:

you cant left click on the link.. you must right click and choose save as..

you should get it then..

yahoo does not allow alot of activity at once, so you might have to just wait like 30 minutes, then try it again.

I'm in the process of getting them on www.mp3.com/tcw

You can also get me on AIM - mrwilli02
or yahoo messenger - metaltim

I can send files that way, just drop me a line

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Tim,
Those drums sound great... is that you? Some of the vocals sound a little hot to me, but you did some really creative panning with them. The track sounds really good to me, and good song too.

METALTIM: I just got into the mp3.com thing myself and it took about 2 weeks before I got approved. Upload any pictures at the same time, they take about as long on those too...maybe 7-9 days.

The upload is pretty straight forward, just follow the directions they give you after you make an account. When you click to upload your song of your hardrive, be patient..it seems to take a while. Make sure it's recorded at 128kbps. Go have dinner or something. Then if all goes well, it goes live in a couple of weeks.

metaltim 10-07-2002 04:54 PM

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

thanks roy,
yeh the drums are me, or the xp-30 anyway
i agree with the hot vox, ive had that on my mind as something i need to fix, esp. the choruses.

here is the first thing i ever recorded using pro tools, or anything for that matter.
This is a very primitive mix. it's only like 7 tracks, and i did it about a month after using the 001.
in other words: very little knoweledge

What have I done

you can also just click here and make sure you right click and chooe save as...

Yahoo doesnt like alot of traffic, so if it brings you that error page just try again in 30 minutes or so...

As a general courtesy, if you're posting your music here, you should be listening and commenting on the music of your PT brothers and sisters also. DDP,
Man, I enjoyed 'Paco'...it reminds me some of The Band's stuff and also Leon Russell's voice. Uncle Salty's Cabin sounds like a good time band to check out. You mentioned this is a little different for you... what kind of stuff did you do before?

Thanks very much for the listen, Roy

Captain Pants!
I enjoyed 'Forever' (I didn't get a chance to say that today). Man, the CD is sounding really good too! I've listened all the way to 'Hold you in my arms' so far. Good job! Let's have a cheeto's party, man... get some babes over.... the whole thing...

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks Roy. the stuff from my earlier cd's was more on the rock, rock/blues side. the "good lovin" mp3 from the 'uncle saltys cabin 2' cd below "paco" at the site is a good example. this is my first personel band release recorded on pro tools, my other 'usc' stuff was done on adats.

interestingly, some of my friends thought i was crazy for doing a song like that. so when i finished mixing, the first place i turned to was duc. i've been listening to a wide variety of posts on here for months now and figured this would be the best place for unbiased feedback.

Well, I took the song down, I decided for the benefit of mankind, and for myself, I wanted to re-sing a couple parts.
If you listen to the end of the first chorus/whisper thing, right when I say "Person", you will here the piano kinda in the backround, sounds cool, but, that is actual backround bleed through the mic.
The secong verse and chorus, I didnt let the mic bleed as an test to see which one I like better.....of course, the second verse is clearer.

So, I am going to make the first verse sound like that.
Thanks for the listen. =-CP.

Okay I've got another one up.
Remember it works best if you right click and choose save-as. Also, if you get an error, try again in 20 minutes or so, yahoo has a traffic limit.

The newest one is nevergone.
Get it here
Now bare with me, I wrote and recorded this song in about 6 hours, this afternoon actually.

So it is definately not a final mix. There are a couple of vocal issues I need to work out. but the song is there.
it's a bit different from my style, if there is such a thing....

let me know what you think.

first of all, i want to thank people for listening to my tunes. jopry, yes, i was in the band. i was the lead guitarist, and main songwriter. i'm going to start listening to other people's songs as soon as my internet connection stops going on and off. it disconnected 3 times while i've been typing this. i've been having this problem since before i posted the link to my tunes. http://www.polarisconcepts.com/jivebrown/ thanks all, and i will check out some music when this damn internet works for more than a minute at a time. jivebrown,
I had gotten distracted from hearing your songs, and finally got a chance to listen. You have a very unique and interesting style, and I really enjoyed 'Oranja' and 'Unshelled' the most, I think. Where was 'Unshelled' done? (it's live, right?)...
Thanks, Roy

John Reis,

Ok, I have to admit that I like this stuff. That says nothing favorable about my state of mental health, but I never claimed to be stable.

1. It doesn't sound like anyone else I can think of.
2. It doesn't rely on very many conventional musical constructs.
3. It's kinda funny.

These are all good things. Listening to it was sort of like taking a quick commercial break from serious life issues.

Thanks for the link, John. You have a future. Where, I don't know...but you have a future.

CP/ Ben,
Great job, in my opinion. Good song! Maybe it's because it's more guitar driven than synth, I don't know, but this is my favorite thing I've heard you write so far. To me, it's obvious that your stuff is growing better and better. Keep going, keep creating... Thanks for letting us listen.

More interesting music, and all very different!

Captain Pants - I like "What This Did to Me." Nice groove, and those reversed parts are very slick. Nice job!

John Reis - Indeed, a nice break from listening to "conventional" musical forms, as Soundsurfr commented. Trippy stuff, but I liked it!

I just did another site update and posted an MP3 for a new song, "Perpetual Motion." The mix on this one isn't quite as polished yet as the others I've posted (haven't had enough time to live with it and go back for remixing yet), but the song is there.

Not sure how many more updates I'll have time to do before the CD is actually done (these projects always tend to get rather "intense" as you near the finish line), but it's been great fun sharing this stuff with everyone and checking out all the fine work you guys have been doing. Hello all. I have a new song up on my mp3.com page if you would like to view it. I definately went back to my guitar roots for this song, as opposed to my stuff of late that is composed entirely on synths. Thanks for checking it out if you do..

The song is called "What this did to me"

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Capitan - Good song. The use of guitars definitely adds to your sound.

I sense a little angst?

Nightshad Crisis....

There are the makings of a good track there, but you need to get more practice with recording on PT. I understand it's hard to get a good drum sound unless you've got good mikes and good mike pre's, so that may have to wait.

But here are some suggestions on a few other things I heard:

There is guitar amp noise evident just before the guitars kick in. Get into edit mode and chop it out!!! If you have the guitars on their own tracks, there's no reason why you should have to live with amp noise.

The lead vocal is difficult to hear in the verse, but not because it's not loud enough. It's because there's not enough high end EQ to let it cut through the mix. Also, it's awash in reverb, and the reverb sounds a little cheesy. Is it a Pro Tools plug-in? Or did you pull the reverb off a PA or amp?

Keep at it - the more you do this, the better your mixes will be.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

if i had money i would buy nice preamps and mics, but im poor, but i think that equipment is only half the battle. thank you very much for the input. i am still learning protools. i am only 15 but have been trying hard to make good recordings and just get better overall with musical engineering. i think its maybe the second or third song i have seriously done with protools. the reverb is the d-verb plugin. ill try to mix it down and i will definitely cut the guitar out at the beginning. geez....for me its a million times easier recording slow music....why do the people i record always play fast music???? damn......evan
