Acer Aspire anyone?
 

I'm looking at a new laptop - and the the macbook pro's are a bit beyond the budget - I was thinking the Acer Aspire 1694 WLMi might do the trick.

I've trawlled the 'best laptops' tread and managed to get some info - just thought a general shoutout might get some as yet untapped feedback.

Any thoughts appreciated

That is my laptop.

You will have to remove the laptop battery in the device manager (system properties). This will make the laptop think it's always plugged in to power, even when it's running on battery (so you won't be able to use power saving options automatically).

Other than that, works like a charm with Pro Tools. I have an MBox 2

Thankyou TheNoize - that's exactly the responce I was looking for. Have you done a davec test or any other more tangible performance test? - Just curious.
