Re: Mac Upgrade Question

to help any troubleshooting in the future I did it this way.

bought a new drive
installed snow leopard
re installed everything as if I never had a music computer

If there are plug ins you can't even find then that could be problematic as the compatibility of those would be suspect.

Snow leopard and PT 8 change a lot and in my experience is a more fragile combination in regards to older plug in versions.

While I was formatting the new drive and installing the new os I was on my laptop downloading as many apps and plug ins again to prepare. To help the process along.

This obviously took a little longer than just updating the os but one thing I have seen the past year and a half about PT8 is that people with problems in MANY cases didn't do it this way. . . No fresh OS install and also were not diligent in plug in versions. Not every problem but Many times i have seen non current plug ins causing problems for people as well as updating the os instead of a fresh install.

In the long run it was worth the peace of mind.
