And now for something completely different...
The amount of talent in this thread is just awesome!
I have posted one basic "overproduced" love ballad before. Here is a different view. Four drum mikes, live guitar and bass, everything leaking to everything including the demo voc from the PA. Two more Amplitube guitars and a bunch of vocals... I suppose this is a trad tune, not sure though. There´s a Boston based punk band who did this tune kinda this way... we just did this for fun ,well, this is a practise work to make bad sound good, so to speak. I srewed up the MP3 mastering a bit though, too much limiting in the low end so it is (supposedly) suffering. Dunno for sure, I´m on a laptop with no extra speakers now. Hard to hear the lyrics in the choruses... which may be a good thing indeed. Spicy Mc Haggis |

PR
New song from my mill. Apu PR.
It tells that countries promise a lot of money as emergency aid. But usually only ˝ will be paid. Free feel to say anything. Especially hints how to improve my mixes are welcome. And yes, it is Ticky Clav again... |
Re: New TBR test of the new rooms.
badperson,
For the guitars, I actually was using 4 mics. The TLM-103 a pair of 435's and the 012. The TLM is the cleanest, but those 435's are a close, close second. We a/b'd them to a pair of U87's in a big studio and the client linked the 435's better. They were brighter, and had a bit more clarity. However the U87 was definitely a smoother, flatter sound. Take that combination and proper placement and it seems to work for me. And Yes, I did compress it a bit towards the end. Actually I reposted the song to the same link without the RComp in Pro Tools. Figured the outboard 1176 was enough. :-) It was really just to hear the room and get it done quickly. Thanks for the comments though. I will post more when his band gets in. - Doc SWEETEST REASON |
