Ummm... frontend is what you were saying about not using any external processors before the ADC.

Yeah right ...the vocals are nice and soft sounding ...if you know what I mean.

i used only TrackS eq and compressor on the vocals. and then bussed some of it to a waves rverb

Wow ...and you achieved those results with those plug-ins.

I'd like to hear one of your pieces when you are trying.

filosofem

haha.. are those plugs bad? or you mean i should use more? .. i have learned a lot of [bleep] through the years, but i still have a lot to learn regarding fx use and mixing.. but actually, just the switch from my m-audio with cubase to mbox2 with PT makes a huge difference in sound.. somehow..

and no, i use n o vocal booth.. this song i linked here is just the mike beside my computer..
there was a time when i used a vocal booth, but i have no place to set it up where i live now.. and it sounded like [bleep] anyway.. it's a couple of years ago though..

thanks for the comments.

Well Tracks EQ is not the best, even in the standard LE pack. Did you use a preset with the Compressor?

...and less is more.

oh.. i really like the tracks.. .. i'm not using the version that comes with the LE thouigh.. i have the full version.. and yeah, i usually start with a preset, then change it a little.. mostly because i'm not that great when it comes to fx processing.. but i'm learning

which plugs would you recommend? lets say money is not an issue..just for the fun of it

Here are some common ones. There are lots around.
I think it comes down to taste, but you sort of have to know your taste.

McDSP

DUY

Sony Oxford

URS

Hmmm, I really need help and advices

This is my real first recording, local radio station plays it, thats ok now, it sounds ok.

But, the national radio in Finland (Yle) says it needs to be remastered, then we might have a chance to get that song where it belongs to, hehe.

Seriously, what are your suggestions?

It is here

Finnish...nice mix overall...good guitar sounds. All I would suggest is the lead vocal could be slightly brighter, IMO. The rest of the mix is fairly bright and crisp, and I think the lead vocal needs some eq tweakage (maybe as simple as pulling back some low end).
You say Yle says it needs to be 'remastered'. Has it been mastered the first time yet? If not, find a good ME and play him your current mix first(if possible)...then make adjustments per his advice.

Good song...good mix so far.....good luck.

Here's a lil' demo mix of an idea I've had floating around for years. I plan on taking a proper pass at it in the very near future.

Hi Wheeltard.....really nice song. All sorts of possibilities for coloring the production up(mandolins, late strings...whatever), even it you wanna keep it simple. I do suggest pulling up your vocal up during the verses(nice job on the vocal)...hard to catch the lyrics in places. It's fine in the choruses.

If you develop it further, post it again. Enjoyed the listen...

very plain and simple (unfortunatley mu guitar hums pretty bad since i don't have my computer hooked up to a grounded wall outlet, but i'll live with that for more serious recordings)
