Roy will just have to add some heroin into the fray. I hear it's better than Starbucks!!

Hi Jay,
I'm definitely into percussion...I have a collection of one-hit percussion samples that I consider primo, and I create a kit for each new thing I do, including 'Moonbeam Seduction'.
On the Morrison thing, believe me, this vocal only reminds me a little of him, and I think it's just the range in which Nick sang this. I'm impressed that he wrote and sang this on top of an existing instrumental and made it work. That took some skill.

dwkick/Steve...
I agree with you...it's a little short at under 3 minutes, but I've sent Nick the long version, 'Seduction'. So it will likely be longer. He's also working on a second song of mine now (Route 666).

So all of those drums/percussions are one hits that you assembled into full tracks, cutting and pasting ad nauseum? Amazing. Now that's patience! I use Acid for all of my drums because it's just so damn easy to drag, drop, and create.

I think the idea of it just seems tedious, but it's not. With Redrum and some other programs, you load your kit and play. It becomes a midi thing.
I've used loops in a couple of things, and have used one or two as a pattern, but I prefer to choose each sample if possible. It seems to work best for me.

Badperson I love your stuff man. I dont get by the Latest Stuff thread a lot, but I saw you had some thing there and was like hey.....
Listened to Flowers. The song just had me grinning away. Played it for my wife too. Later on one of us would just start singing the words and cracking each other up. What a fun song
I guess you would have to have been there to know what I'm talking about.
Post some more man!!

I am going to try to get by here more often. I say that every time I drop in here

Hi Kevin I thought the song was Rockin!! My only critique is the vocalist occasionally sings off key.The recording itself was also very nicely done good work man.

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!

Glad to see this post coming back around.

So much of my stuff ends up in the "almost finished" pile for so long, it is frustrating to not be able to post anything. However, this past week I made myself finish one up so here it is. A few notes about it

Includes a Spanish made mandolin and charango, both from South America...yet the song has a distinctive Middle Eastern feel. Go figure.

Drums were recorded from a standard "rock" set but in multiple takes and using only the high and roto toms. Could sound better (different?) with bongos.

Since there is no bass drum, didn't really have to contend with low end problems. Bass may not be "bassy" enough though (for this particular song, I only had a cheap bass guitar to work with).

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Hey Skip,
First of all thanks for the kind words ,I appreciate it. Part of the reason I posted the song was to get some ideas of what needed to be done to the vocals, they're by far the best I've been able to do so far but I just can't seem to step outside my own head to figure out what I'm doing wrong on a few parts. If you have any suggestions as to what words or phrases are be bad and or how to fix em I'd really dig that. It's hard to be objective when it's your own voice on the tape I guess.....at least for me. I also wanted some different ears to hear the mix in general, I feel like I've gone as far as I can take the mix, but my ears are also cooked right now so maybe in a few days I'll be able to improve on it.

Thanks again.

-Kevin
