Transport shortcuts on keypad stop working

Sometimes my transport shortcuts on the keypad stop working in the middle of a session (click toggle, 2-bar preroll, record, loop playback etc.) Can someone explain this please?

That's what I thought at first - but no, it wasn't num lock. I have a hard time re-creating the problem, though. I'll have to post again next time it happens.
