Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Soundsurfr,
I would think this music is perfect for the show. I will be glad to get some samples to you as well as Aussie169. And I really look forward to getting to do our collaboration as soon as you're ready for me...(and thanks about 'Mandolin Summer'). ~Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Here is a song about my girlfriend or Autotune..
I Need You (like a radio hit needs autotune). I made it with my roommate Rob Castle last April for my anniversary.. I dont think she got it.... Take a listen and I think you might at least get the humour in it. Thank you. Rob johnson www.mp3.com/robsquare |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

I looked back a few pages to see if you were refereing to a particular track, but I didn't see any mentions. All these songs were recorded with different gear at differet times (hence the inconsistency of them all), and more importantly, when I knew very little about mixing properly (and I still have a long way to go ). However, "Echolocation" and "Gelatin" were tracked and mixed on an 001. "Telegraphic Memory" was all done in Reason, but it's time to dust it off and remix it in PT. The others are really older tracks when I had a built-in soundcard, using Cakewalk. pk |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
This was recorded completly on Digi001. We then masterd in wavelab. I sang through an AKG C3000, with an ART Tube Pac mic pre.

A Masterpiece!... No really, this is great. When the drum machine solo came in, I couldn't help but get up and dance. It's good to know that SOMEbody is taking the art of music and ProTools so seriously... Thanks, Roy |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi Everybody...some really great stuff here! Great thread!
I don't do this for a living. I just do this stuff for my pleasure and to make my kids laugh. Here's my MP3 page. "Smash" turned out the better of the two. Sort Cheech and Chong meet Blue Oyster Cult? I am a sloppy player... I used a bare minium of tools: Digi 001, two Les Pauls, Sadowsky bass, DR-660 drum machine, and a POD 2.0. http://mp3.com/Ken_O |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I wish i had a modem that did not take so long to download i would listen to all of these.
Roy I asked you a few questions on p/18 and reviewed your song a bit there. I heard just those two so far Guess i need a cable modem. \ \ Blessings |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Bassguitar:
You've got a real 60's Cream thing going there. Those Les Pauls sound good - I always loved that pure Les Paul tone. I think if I had a hit of acid, you'd be God. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
"I think if I had a hit of acid, you'd be God."
Studio de Ariel, I used all 24 tracks for Mandolin Summer, but only because I added some stereo windchimes and things (not really necessary). I played an Epiphone MM-50 mandolin ('The Epiphone') by Gibson on the song. Sometimes a good instrument itself can inspire a song, just like a beautiful woman. One thing I was wondering though. Did you mean to post the actual geographical site of the Giantscausway on p.18? Thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I just did this song yesterday and it is called...;
Fuse It! Please download it to your drive first. it sounds glitch-free then. Everything is Samples except the guitar parts. I played the guitars. But Drums, Bass, Electric Rhodes and Sax is played with EXS24 and EVP88. I miked my 64 Fender Bandmaster and used a Tube Screamer. My pickups are P90. Comments are welcome. Hey everyone,
I've gone through probably 75% of the songs that have been posted so far and there is some really amazing stuff here. Great sounding, great writing and great players. I just wanted to give special kudos to Justin Lynch's tune "Ignorance" and Travis' "Hey Yeah". These are two really great songs and if you haven't checked out take the time to do so. Definatly worth it. Rob Links: Ignorance http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/187/justin_a_lynch.html Hey Yeah http://gigphoto.com/music/heyyeah.mp3 |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Yavuz! Coolness abounds!
I really enjoyed it man! Really nice jazz... The samples sound fantastic. Forgive my ignorance here, but how are you getting them into PT? (I'm just unfamiliar with EXS24 and EVP88). Great work though, man. I'm glad to hear good stuff coming from you... ~Roy |

I have used Logic for this. Exs24 is a Soft Sampler. EVP88 is Rhodes Emulator Soft Synth. |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hello Fellow Protoolers!...Well this is my first post since I asked a few questions before buying a Digi 001 Factory around Jan.(Admitted late night lurker) I can't tell you how inspiring all this great music has been with unbelievable talent and I wanted to contribute my first song completed in this awesome format! Protools beats the CRAP out of my old VS 880s and ADATs before that...My question is "How do I get my MP3 to the http://basstardz.dhs.org/duc/MP3/ Website?" I'd appreciate any help...The song "Knight in Shining Armour" is pop/rock and was sequenced-recorded entirely in Digi 001 using a Korg X3,Proteus 2000,Clavia Ddrum 4 set,Roland JV1080,and Gigastudio 96...All parts were done by me...Thanks...Ted

8mmOD/Robb,
How cool...how refreshing.. I love the beginning harmonies and the ending harmonies(I separate the two because they're each unique). And the singer/poet is great, her total conviction comes across well. Guitar(s) are tuned below standard, correct?, which makes them deep and unique as well. Excellent creative venture, and good stuff from you, Robb, as usual... ~rh |

Mix2Much - I listened to the first song (all I had time for). Really good. I like the chord changes and the guitar sounds. The artist is good, too - heavy Sheryl Crowe influence, yes?
Roy - I LOVE "Shut Up Baby". Listened to it 3 times with this sort of half-grin on my face. You could make that into a real killer- puts some breaks in, maybe a hooky melody line? Superb. Excellent work, guys. |

Thanks a bunch soundsurfr! I think she's quite a talent. I know her voice has a sheryl crow quality but I don't know if she's influenced much by her musically. |

Download "Change_Your_Mind.MP3" - the other two files ("phobia.mp3" and "entangled.mp3") are songs we did for clients, and you're welcome to check theose out as well if you're so inclined. Thanks to those who listened to the "phobia" and "entangled" cuts already. Entangled is by an artist named John McGill. You can check out his website at http://www.johnmcgill.com The "phobia" cut is from a band called Alexa's Wish - you can check them out at http://www.alexaswish.com "Change Your Mind" is a track of mine. All vocals and instruments. It was tracked in the Digi 001 / PT LE, using various preamps (mostly Neve 1272's), mostly using the AW4416 converters, although I might have used the Digi 001 mic preamps on one or two things. All MIDI stuff was tracked / edited in PT LE, instead of my usual Logic / Sonar... I just wanted to do a track from the ground up in PT to see what it would be like.... but I gave up at mixdown and used the dual AW4416's - I just wasn't comfortable with the mixing in PT by comparison. Anyway, I'd appreciate any comments. |

I've probably listened to most of these music posts on this duc, with the exception of 1 or 2 others, Your tune Knight In Shining Armour is right there. Cetainly the production cant be judged (in my opinion) over the computer, but strictly from a song writing perspective, you're right on. my humble sugestion would be this: now assuming there is nothing wrong with my mp3 player and my quicktime program. it sounds like you have some sort of "Rain" track, or "white noise" thing going on in the tune. Am i correct? if this effect is intentional, i would take it out by the time the vocals come in, or even expirement with fading it out as your lead starts (in the begining). I totally dig the vibe of it in the intro, as I love the intro as well. it might be a little distracting once the singing starts.I believe you get the point across without overdoing it. NOW!! if this isnt an intentional effect than my apologies for spending so much time on the subject. Other than that, GREAT work, I dig the tune and what you got going on in it. best of luck, Bloux |

HI...
IM OMAR RODRIGUEZ... I HAVE A STUDIO RECORDER IN COLOMBIA: YAMAHA PROMIX DIGI OO1 FACTORY ALESIS XT ENSONIC SAMPLER ACTUALY THE DIGI 001 IS RUNING IN WINDOWS ME SYSTEM... BUT I HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH MY MOTHERBOARD VIA AND MY SOUNBLASTER LIVE PLATINUM SOUND CARD..... IS THE INTEL 815 ANY BEST MOTHERBOARD FOR MY DIGI?????? THANKS.... |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hello Bloux,
Thanks for the reply!...I'm not sure why but the signal during mixdown is right near 0db where it should be but it sounds distorted like I'm driving it too hard....I checked all my signals during tracking and they looked great the whole way down the chain...I noticed the overall db level was lower than usual to listen to it at mixdown (by ear) but the meters told a different story...I've mixed 3 projects for other people on this sytem since I got it and they sounded great...This song project is the first one this happened on...The white noise sound is probably the sampled Korg Triton pad you hear...It has a lot of air to it...I think you have a good suggestion in taking it out or at least drop the db on it after the intro...I'm good at covering up frequencies with too many instruments in the same region and further screwing it up by cranking the volume on big frequency eaters (like that pad)...I'll probably go back to the midi tracks and rerecord the audio from them and try to figure out where the signal degradation is happening...That's the great thing about Protools...it makes it very easy to do that I remember the old days what a real pain in the butt that would've been....BTW, I listened to some of your tracks and you sound kind of like that guy from Journey....Anyone ever tell you that?...He's a great singer...Thanks again...Ted |
