how to drop markers

Anyone know the quick key to drop a marker? I'm separating regions from a VO session and I need to run through and mark all the good takes.
What's the fastest way to drop markers?

Hit the enter key (on the numeric pad), it will prompt you for the parameters you want in your marker, then hit enter again. Go to WINDOWS and open the markers window to see them in a list. You can also recall them by hitting the period key (also on the numeric pad), the number of the marker, then period again. Option click will delete them, or drag them down into the timeline from the markers view to delete them.

I don't suppose you know how to renumber markers, to tidy up the numbering? Or, do we just have to deal with weird orders depending on where we drop the next one!

I've been asking Digidesign for a renumbering option, but so far, you'll have to do it by hand! I thought I was the only one interested in this option. Nice to hear there are others, too!

By the way, if you already know the number, that the marker should get: Hit period (numeric pad)+marker number+enter (numeric pad).

Thank you for that tip! I am going to try and use it today ! Yeah, the marker functionality is rather limited for such a powerful aid to mixing. I use them to mark pivot point in underscore when I am scoring, and to mark everything from CUTs to things that need fixing. It is insane when I want to move them or place new ones in and they don't automatically renumber based on their order!!

On the Num Pad... PERIOD + {NUMBER} + ENTER

That will assign the Marker to memory location NUMBER.

Workaround:

You could also export a dummy MIDI track to a Standard MIDI File then delete all markers and import the Standard MIDI File and the markers will be renumbered by location.
