Sorry for the delay on listening...I had to enable my SB card to hear these files, and I kept saying, 'OK, that's next on my list' for about 3 days... Anyway, sounds like you're becoming comfortable with Reason on 'Feedbacker'...nice percussion with the bass line there. And on EADGAE, the acoustic sounds fantastic. Nice tuning piece there... I always enjoy your stuff. Keep em coming... thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
jamlaw... sheesh, that was killer. This music is supPOSED to be loud, yet this is still clean as a whistle, which makes it all the more powerful in my opinion. It's not easy making music jump out of the speakers when you want it to... I like what's going on musically with the guitars, vocals, and that drummer too...Good stuff.
Keep us posted... ~Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
as the worlds best thread continues ...
I will contribute my newest/favorite mix from my "001 Setup". I've posted work I have done with this band in the past they are called The Fully Down from the hometown Ottawa. The song is called "Best Of Me" (good tune ) I tried to push the 001 to its limits on this. (just got an 002 and this was the last 001 production). open to criticism good or bad. Rip it up if you feel the need to Its easy to loose perspective on a mix after working on it for a long time (as you all know) here's the link The Fully Down - Best Of Me PS - sorry about the Mp3.com link , I am aware people would rather bypass that whole scene but this is the only place its hosted right now sooo ... enjoy , hopefully Dean PPS - Not mastered yet .. so bare with the low volume |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Al plays my premier kit recorded in my room on this latest re-recording of Goodbye.
Real guitars and mic'd amps (line6). Words and music by Al Cofre / produced and engineered by Mr. Seven Goodbye - mp3/128 |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Okay folks, this is my first ever recording ever. A little background... I have only just started to learn about engineering and mixing less than a year ago. I am just trying to learn as I go along. This is a recording of my band in my basement. The original purpose was simply to just learn how to set levels, basic tracking and mixing techniques. So we did a "live" recording with no isolation between instruments. I just threw mics up on all the cabinets and the drums... even the keyboards were miked. The only thing overdubbed is the vocal.
The site is rather slow so you might have to download the song to listen to it... seems to have trouble streaming.. (sorry). Anyway, let me know what you think. The name of the song is "Kindred" (ps- I'm the drummer) Grigori3 Iuma page "Kindred" |

jamlaw, great work as always. I'd like to respectfully disagree with the comments that the mix was too loud, just right for that genre, imho. I'd like to hear more about how you recorded it. I know you posted a detailed description earlier in the thread, I'll go back and look for it.
zetty twine, nice tune, nice recording. I like the sound on the 12 string a lot. The stereo vox are nice. Is that a touch of delay on one channel? neatguys, very nice stuff, the drums sound very good. hadjipita, very nice polished sounding mix, for some reason my ear wants to hear a tad more drums, but that's really minor, great work. mr7, that's a cool flange effect on the vox, how did you do that? all the other tunes were great, too, the quality goes up around here all the time. bp |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Siberian ....that band sounds great man!!!!! She looks just like the singer of another Chicago area band A.D.D.! I like her voice recording sounds good..a lil' bassy on my small speakers

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Siberian, for a live recording....it sounds really good. I like the type of music, cool tune! Have a good show at OASIS ONE SIXTY. I've never been to that venue...just heard about it recently...Lacuna Coil is coming hour and a half drive ouch!

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Aoede, Lacuna Coil is one of my all time favorite bands. We have been working on trying to get an opening slot with them.

ZettyTwine,
Very unique song...cool mood to it. I love the production and the vocals... -Roy IntelDoc/Chris, 'I Have Waited' sounds better than when I heard it the first time... those choruses are great... great job on the mix. -Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Roy,
Thanks! I worked on it a bit and added the LA-2A instead of the RComp. warmed it up some. Now if I can just master DRUMS in other tunes.. :-) Thanks again, -Doc |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey Roy,
Sorry I actually don't check that email everyday. Yeah definitely post it. The link in your email didn't work, but I'd love to hear what you did, thanks! bp |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
IntelDoc,
Are you using those Oktava mics on the guitars? they have such a nice warm sound. nice job. Also, is he playing to a click? the time is very solid. Roy, I love what you did with the slide! I can't wait to get home, my speakers hear at work (even when I listen thru cans) sound miserable. Totally distorted, barely audible. Is that a cheap soundcard? We have ancient pc's at work, so what can you do. I'll look forward to hearing it thru monitors at home. Thanks! bp |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
badperson,
Yep! The oktava 319's on guitar and direct thru the ART DI/O digital box. I dig the oktava's Have the TLM to use, but the Oktava's seem to get the job done.... Also, NO CLICK! He did not want one since he is going for the rough, open mic sound. I think that it works..... Thanks man! I will post more when I can. We are working on a 9 song CD now. Should be done Thursday. Been working with it for about 3 weeks now. 25 hours so far. Really happy with it though! 17 year old kid ya know. Pretty sweet! Later! -Doc |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I've got a little ditty up..
not sure whether to call this country, or bittersweet rock.. i'll let you decide. no vox yet, im tired of thinking about this one, feel free to throw it in a session, have fun with it, and send it back to me.. it's called forgotten metaltim Quote:
they were pretty good (this is the band with the chick singer right?) almost like an evanescense, but not quite as main stream. that one guy seems he could be done without, he sings like 1 or 2 lines every other song, and doesn't play any instruments.. i figured he was that chicks brother or something, so they couldnt kick him out lol |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hello Guys,
After a long silence I’m back with a new song. I even have Roy Howell as a Special Guest (You are going to figure that out). I am looking for a vocal part for this song. If anybody has an idea and wants to collaborate, please feel free to send me an e-mail with your “thoughts”. I’m thinking about having either a female, or a high pitched male vocal part. Well, let me know what you all think about this piece: Anger Management Peace |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Totally dig it! Was that REASON for the drums? I know Roy's guitar playing... Crazy sound. Love the whammy verb pan towards the end. NOW..... Are these mic'd guitars, or what? Great full sound... DETAILS PLEASE!
Great tune, great sound, crazy guitars, very original sound. Almost sounds like you are running through a talkbox. You said it was a digitech something right? Like the harmonies in it. Listening now. -Doc |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Drums - Boss 770, Reason and Sampletank for the Snare. Then I recorded each piece on separated tracks and mixed afterwards.
Guitars - I used the clean channel out of my Mesa Boogie going through 002 pre and Samsamp Plugin. For the Harmonies, I used Amplitube Plugin. The axes are: ESP 7 Strings Ducan pickups; BC Rich 6 Strings Duncan pickups and Yamaha 6 Strings Di-Marzio pickups. As you know, Roy has his very UNIQUE sound, but that Whammy that you mentioned, was the plugin VARI-FI. BTW-Roy did an AWESOME job…I will add some more guitars, but I would like to find a Vocal before place anything else. Thanks for your comments. Anger Management |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Thanks you guys for the comments. Rogerio and I appreciate them very much. Rogerio wrote, arranged, and mixed it all (exceptional job, IMO). I just played one guitar track, and he did the rest. It was a pleasure...

I love those guitar sounds...very clean and interesting...very cool and creative piece indeed. It's a pleasure to listen to your stuff... As far as what I use, I did keep my Fender DeVille (remember I was thinking about trading it). I'm about to have it retubed instead..... On 'Anger Management', I used a Digitech processor with my custom guitar . thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Soundsurfr/Greg,
'Christmas Bolero' sounds great. I'll be playing these here at Howell Manor during the holidays..... Aussie/Mark, As I told you earlier, fantastic job on 'Think of You'. Brenda sounds just so fine...the acoustic guitar sounds great, and the background rythm tremelo guitar...nice choice. I'm also impressed by the drums. Are these real drums? |
