Playhead Not Responding
 

This began a couple of hours ago. The session was going fine, I decided to rearrange some tracks into folders, and suddenly my playhead stopped responding to the spacebar or manually clicking the transport. Either way, the transport button blinks twice, then... nothing. Frozen. I searched thoroughly and tried every solution I could dig up—such as the notorious "Link timeline and edit selection" issue, etc—finally trashing my prefs (which I really don't like doing), and got it working again. Just now, continuing my work, I created a new stereo aux track—nothing more than that—and the playhead's stuck again.

Whatever this is, it's global. Testing shows it's stuck on any session I open. Not doing anything different than usual. My CPU usage is topping at 40%, so I'm good there. I really need to get back to work.

Following up: after a restart it seems to be better, but the fact that it's intermittent, and that I restarted once before, after which it came back, I'm not sure I'm entirely out of the woods. If there's anything I should be aware of, I'd like to know, but don't want anyone wasting a lot of time on what might have been a ghost in the machine.

That ghost visits me every now and then too. Restarting PT solves it here(easier and faster than rebooting, and seems to work every time):o

This has been an intermittent problem for me and a friend of mine across 3 different systems. First started getting this on 2021.3. Re-starting the app always fixes it for me, but it's annoying for sure.
