G4 PB and 6.x LE. How many voices?
 

Hi all -

I asked this question a long time ago, but didn't get a real answer. How many voices can you play back at one time with 6.x LE system and a 1Ghz PB? Assume audio on it's own FW drive with moderate edits and plugs.

What's the most anyone here has every successfully pulled off. The last time I asked, I was getting answers like "4" and "6". I can't imagine anyone buying a product at these prices to only get 4-6 tracks, so I'm hoping they are WAY off. I've only ever used TDM systems, but I'm interested in getting something for home to do pre-production on.

That doesn't answer my questions (actually had nothing to do with my question). I want to know how many voices, with moderate plugs and edits is 6.x LE on a 1Ghz G4 capable of playing simultaniously. Not, how many will Digi allow, but being host based and NOT TDM, CPU power dictates how many voices PT will handle before choking the processor.

So... how many can you run at one time? How many tracks have you been able to voice at one time?
