Will there be any 12.5.x bug fix releases?

03/28/2016 12.5 Cloud Collaboration, Updated Video Engine, Send To Playback (Interplay), bug fixes
12/22/2015 12.4 Track Freeze, Fade Workflows, bug fixes
11/24/2015 12.3.1 Bug fixes
11/06/2015 12.3 Commit, Fade Presets, I/O Setup Enhancements, Batch Fades, Clip Graphic Overlay, bug fixes
09/29/2015 12.2.1 Bug fixes
09/02/2015 11.3.2 Bug fixes
09/02/2015 12.2 VCAs, Disk Cache, Advanced Metering (click for Release Notes)
06/30/2015 12.1 Increased Track Counts, AFL/PFL Solo Modes, Track Input Monitoring, Copy to Sends, HEAT (HD Software), more info
03/23/2015 12.0

Starting with 12.2 we got new releases or bug fixes every month from Sept till the end of 2015.
12.4 got nothing for 3 months
12.5 was released a little more than a month ago...

Now what?

As always, just a guess, but I would not be surprised to see a maintenance release this month.

Waiting impatiently ... Hopefully the graphic glitches will be solved when using El Capitan .. I have been trying all versions with El Capitan and always having glitches .. it should be the number one issue to solve !

I'm with Tom. Getting the Collab stuff out the door is the only reason you didn't see a maintenance release for 12.4.

The really interesting thing is right now my system is actually very stable (so far). Given that I have been on Pro Tools for 13 years so of course I chose to stay on PTHD 12.4.1 Yosemite, so as to allow the forward recon blood letting to subside a bit, before actually moving my army to the new front.

So my fondest hope is that the now officially promised HD Core Audio fix ( for streaming 3rd party) will be in this "maintenance release" I know doing so would gain back some of the lost confidence I have in Avid....................
The only fly in that ointment will be of course if the maintenance is only going to be for 12.5 (given that Avid has apparently decided not to actually "fix" any older versions ) and the 800 gorilla question is of course , will the next "maintenance release" actually make 12.5 stable enough to move to and perhaps move to El Cap ( now 7 months old) ????????????

i another thread it was confirmed that unless you Keep Paying, you will NOT receive any updates ..

until Avid Changes this policy we are stuck where we stop paying .. that is the concept they have been advertising .. they have not hidden this ..

i 2nd the motion that this policy should be changed for FIXES ONLY .. like 11.3.2 was released after 12 was already out .. but the fact that they did not give this release to people that had 11.3.1 is beyond me .. would have sure helped Moral around here

cheers john

Well, to be honest... as I got my HDX System some weeks ago, after a time of pain, anger etc with 12.4 and 12.5...,

I switched back to PT11....as IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE to work as composer with MIDI etc with ALL the PT12 stuff...., not to speak, missing shortcuts, the graphic disaster etc...

Ah, yes, and my OS is also again 10.9.5...

Waiting for news about Updates, perhaps TrackFreeze and Commit can be used WITH Stuff, which worked for THE LAST 15 Years, but not since PT12....

Noise blasts are not 100% fixed and they need to be. I don't care if there are weekly updates but these need to be fixed - now. The software should be incapable of doing such awful things.

PS - while great in theory to provide bug fixes for all prior versions I don't believe this will ever happen. I SO prefer the old way of releasing a major update for a fee and then providing all bug fixes to that for free... also - never going to happen again with AVID...

No, it will not.

Say you have 12 major versions, each have 6 minor versions, you end up with 72 versions. The way it works is you find that "oh, we have a problem in version 10" and you test which branch of the code it is that needs to be fixed. So you fix that and move on. There is no way Avid could test that same bug against all of those imaginary 72 versions.

We also need to bear in mind that all software ALWAYS interacts with OS so PT version x.y.z might work wonderfully with certain OS but have lots of trouble with another OS. That is why everyone should always be mindful of the Avid Compatibility Chart.

Not to even mention that 3rd party plugins also have a major impact regarding stability. Those are also compiled with certain software/OS combination in mind...
