Card Slot Order MacPro Dual 3.0 Quad
I have a Quad core Mac Pro with HD 3 Accel PCIe and Protools will not start up with more than the Core installed.
It appears that the card slot order is wrong. There is nothing in the installion guide of slot order for Mac Pro's Protools Boots OK with just the core care but protools fails to start with any Accels cards installed. The TDM cables are installed OK Port B on Core to Port A on the next Accel card etc. Any hints would be great. Thanks |

Probably bad flexcable, have you tried starting with cards seated but not connected ?

Re: Card Slot Order MacPro Dual 3.0 Quad
AFAIK, the core goes in slot 2 (whatever's nearest to the video card), the accel cards in 3 and 4. However, it may be a compatibility issue. I just ordered what I thought was a 2x2 3Gig MAc Pro and mistakenly I got a 2x4 (silly me!) This system reports hardware errors when my PCIe host card for my digi expansion chassis is put in. I've had to revert to a G5 whilst Digi (hopefully) produces a compatible PCIe host card for the 8-core machines.

Acoring to the Compability page the 3.0 Ghz Dual Processor Dual Core is qualified.
All the cards are seated OK. |

Re: Card Slot Order MacPro Dual 3.0 Quad
just had the same exact problem and it turned out to a bad accel card out of the box brand spanking new . just put in one card at a time to find out which one was bad
even the digitest application would crash till the card was removed |
Re: Card Slot Order MacPro Dual 3.0 Quad
My bad - of course the Core goes there right after the video card... |
Re: Card Slot Order MacPro Dual 3.0 Quad
I had the exact problem too. It was a bad Accel card.
