Interesting you might want to wait for ProTools 11 because the new FastTrax have ports for iOS devices

Re: can i run Pro Tools 9 on a iPad2?
Yes but in no way will Pro Tools 11 or any other version run on iOS. And Avid has not announced any plan to supply DAW software on iOS. These interfaces, at least so far, are intended to be used with Avid software on Mac and Windows or products like Garage Band on iOS.
Discussing trying to hack or circumvent licensing mechanisms is generally frowned upon on DUC, even if it is completely futile as in this case. |

Agreed but the op will have to wait and see
Even if u can't - there are numerous options out there for iOS recording w/o having to hack and mod |

And for casual stuff Garage Band pn an iPad is quite fun to play with.

Stick with what works for you -
It's a toolbox you need to grab what tools u need for your situation Not Someone's else's idea of a good tool - Because if you ask me how to track a session GarageBand would not be on the list of options |
Re: can i run Pro Tools 9 on a iPad2?
A couple of points...
Steinberg has an iOS (and soon to be Android) app, Cubasis, in addition to their own "remote control" app. I wouldn't be surprised if Avid is working on one or both of these, although there probably isn't much demand by their high-end user base... |

One legit method is using SplashTop. While it's just a remote access app, the response is fast (muuuuuuuch quicker than something like iTeleport), at least on a local network, and it can stream audio from your Mac/PC to your iDevice. I've only used it streaming Pro Tools on my local network, but it will also work via internet. Not sure how sluggish it would be via internet, though.
Granted, it's probably not a great solution for serious work, and you cant record from the iPad, but for transport and doing minor work, it's great. ***I realize this isn't what you're necessarily looking for, but thought I'd mention it. |
