How does the MTRX handle SDI video
 

Hello all,


I'm hoping to understand how the SDI expansion card handles video in terms of embed/de-embed and video routing.


Say for instance, I wanted to embed audio from Pro Tools into an external SDI video stream received from SDI card 1 - input 1, and send it out of SDI card 1 - output 2. Is this possible? Or does video come in on input 1 and is fixed to output 1?

Hi James,

SDI input 1 always comes out on output 1, and SDI input 2 always comes out on output 2.

The SDI card does not have a built-in video generator so you must always feed it with a video signal it can embed the audio into.

Keep in mind that you can embed the same audio in both SDI 1 and SDI 2 if you wish. And you can even de-embed audio from one SDI and embed it into the other SDI.

Also, the two SDI inputs can receive different video formats, e.g. SD SDI on one and HD SDI on the other.
