audio import from video crashes
 

I found a problem in 2020.12:

When import audio from video, PT renders the file but crashes at the end.

This doesn't happen in 2020.11.

macOS 10.14.6, video container: .mov, video codec: h.264, audio codec: aac

Can someone confirm this issue?

What Encoder or NLE does the export come from? (The latest Avid MC 20.12 has changes and updates to audio exports to .h26x formats that may create a issue)
No Macs here so I cannot test your issue but will follow with interest any confirmation posts here.
FWIW to quickly get working again my workaround for this sort of issue has been to export a stereo broadcast wave file of the timeline from my NLE. Then import that file to Pro Tools independently and use it in a new "reference track"

AVID confirmed, that this is a bug in 2020.12.

I had something similar happen when bringing in a series and the video length exceeded the session length. (session set to 6 hours and the videos exceeded 8 hours).

Well that explains why I couldn't rip that reference video off the AVC I got from the MC editor last night!

By the way, PT didn't crash for me, it just got stuck on audio import and I was able to cancel out of the dialog and keep working.

I have the same problem when I try to import audio Cubase crashes... if I load audio from the wire by dragging and dropping, then the download is normal, which gives me the opportunity to work.

The same problem is still present on Pro Tools 2021. I spent hours trying to import video for a dubbing project only to have Pro Tools 2020 crash every time audio and video were imported. The audio and video tracks had different lengths and were unplayable. After upgrading to Pro Tools 2021, the problem changed into something different. Now the video gets imported and it can be played, but the audio import crashes at 80%. The workaround was to import only the video first and later drag in the audio, after exporting it to the hard drive with a third party software (Quicktime, Twisted Wave, etc).

I'm running into a similar issue as Reichman. I'm running PT Version 21.12.0.97 and trying to Import a Video with attached Audio but it's stuck ~50% of the way.

Id there any fix to this? I've already imported separate Audio files successfully that I want to sync to this Video...
