Steve- I don't know how similar that board is to the CUSL2-C (probably very similar) but I bet it would run great. I run a 1 gig PIII on ME with an asus cusl2-c and my system totally rocks. I have absolutely no poblems. I would totally recommend the asus boards. Just find out if it is similar to the cusl2-c and if it is the same I would definitely recommend it. Just put you digi card in the second pci slot and your sound card in the fifth if you have one. Happy Recording images/icons/wink.gif

The CUSL2 is no longer listed at the asus web site that I could find. I'm betting this board is the follow up...

I would call up ASUS and ask if the specs are the same as the cusl2-c, and if they are than go for it. I love the asus boards, they're rock solid and PT is such a joy to use now. Good luck.

Can anyone recommend this board for use with PTLE and an Intel PIII 733?

TWIMC; Yes I'm running a TUSL2-C with a 1ghz P111.
PTLE and Waves NPP 3.2. 512ram Seagate 40gb 5400rpm HDD for system and Seagate 40gb Baracuda
7200rpm audio HDD. HDD thruput was pale. Baracuda
only marginally faster than 5400. Looked in device
manager (oh, Win98se) and saw generic HDD driver.
Got out my trusty motherboard driver cd and loaded
the ATA 100 driver for the hard drives & rebooted.
WOW! Thruput multiplied in the hundreds. No need
to overclock, yet. But! Waves didn't seem to like the driver. I had to re-authorize, no biggie. Too
good to be true? The waves 3.5 upgrade cd was still warm from the mailbox when I installed it.
Launch PT and get, you guessed it, no plugins. I
had removed the previous version and followed the
installation instructions to the letter. I did the
whole thing again just to be sure. Same result.
I drop a line to Waves and get new instructions.
I download Goldpkg. upgd. only to cd and run the
install. Everything seems to load fine but I get
individual errors on some of the plugin instances
in the session files. No problem, delete them and
reload them. Do session, three 4 min. tunes.
Transport functions schizophrenic. With 30 secs.
left in playback, error! Reduce hardware buffer
from 1024 to 512. Ok. 10 seconds later, error!
increase HW buffer from 512 to 1024. Ok. This
I let toggle for a while, then the files got
trashed, and I had to salvage them from session
backups. So yesterday I post a "help desk"
request form, (ya gotta love it!) and today
I hear from PT guys, Go back to the plain Vanilla IDE driver and generic HDD types. It's kind of
like restrictor plates in Nascar. PT tells me
that LE dosen't like some UDMA drivers, but I'm
not really sure who the perp is in this one. I
did send the Identical description of the prob.
to Waves, but haven't heard back from them as of
yet. Does anyone out there have any knowledge
that would get my drives back to turbo? I think
this Asus mobo can kick some ass (for a P111)if
released. And the price has just come down about
30% to $79-$89 or so. the only thing I'm A bit
leery of is the 512mb ram limitation, but maybe
it wouldn't matter. I can't say yet on that one.

have it, love it.
you'll be fine with the 512MB it allows.
