Yooooo...... anyone using akg c3000 straight into digi's preamps? My setup is about 1 week old and I noticed a little bit of harshness or digital noise when recording vocals(24 bit files, Monster 100 XLR,pop filter, on R&B and Rap music). Anybody noticed this too???? I really wanted to get the Neumann TLM-103, but I've used the C3000 and Adats many times with no problems.

any suggestions???
Thanks

I've used the C3000 straight in on an accoustic guitar - sounds sweet.

Yeah, I've had a few problems with my C3000 as well, but I think it's because the mic is pretty "hot." It did the same thing in another studio through a mic pre into an Audiomedia card...I had to turn the pre way down to mellow it out, and was doing a ballancing act between turning it down enough for a good signal, and turning it down too far and not getting a good word length in the sample (not enough signal). You may just have to work it out: I'm not knowledgeable enough to suggest a good work-around...I just use it and deal, 'cause it's a good enough mic to make it worth it.

I'm running a akg300b as well. I only used it once with the 001's preamps, but am running it off of a Digimax pre for about the last year with success.

I wonder if it has to do with the 001's phantom power supply... I really have no idea, but it does sound better running it through the Digimax.

Ya....I'll try to test the mic out on another system because I try both pre's, but I get the same little harsh, brittle sound. But I think I should have gotten the TLM-103,,,, any tried that combo???

i use the c1000 for tons of stuff, elec/acous guitar, vocals, drum over heads.

put em right in to the 001. they're decent and simple....

*I can tell you the Rode NTK sounds great and is lots less money than the Neumann...
