FF/RW Takes Audio and Video Out Of Sync

Whenever I scrub to a location with fast forward or rewind, when play resumes I'm completely out of sync. I have to start play over to get everything to go back to normal, very annoying for spotting.

actually it's out of sync even if I click on a location

again if I watch through it's totally fine, and my session and video are set to the same frame rate

ok actually scratch that, the problem is much weirder

my video is 30 fps,but the pro tools video input is forcing it to 29.97, so i changed the session settings to 29.97 non drop and it's fine now, but why is Pro Tools on the one hand telling me i should be at 30 but setting my video to 29.97?

btw i catpured the video myself at 30 so i know that's the video frame rate

Even if you captured the video at "30" it's actually 29.97fps.
