Hello all, Can someone tell me if I need to spend 7K+ on a PT HD system to get the same power I have now on my PT HD2 G5 system? OR can I just get the PT software for 600.00 and an i/o like the Universal Audio etc...I mix 75 to 100 tracks with massive plug ins now. Thank you!

I'll give it a shot. If you can deal with having large buffer sizes and few Vi's you can get a lot done on a modern machine. I like HDx for low latency recording at any buffer but plenty of folks mix with UAD stuff and a decent Mac.
Limited experience above 40-50 tracks with what's in my sig.
Let's see what others have to say.
Best of luck.

Yep, like Carl said, I run a nMPro with 32gb ram and native everything and 12.7.1 hardly misses a beat, 50 - 60 tacks BUT all audio, I don't run video and all my VI work is done in Logic. So for audio, it's golden.

Thanks everyone. I need to run video so I'm guessing I have no option but to go full HD. TNX

HD|Native will probably be enough for you, if you buy a nice computer

A 2,000$ modern 7700k 4 core will have multiple times over more power than your HD2 system on a G5.

Yes, even with internal audio a new fast computer with SSD drives will run circles around your old TDM system macbook pro will kill that with Native plugins.
Regarding HD Native bundle i would not go there as that will not do any DSP so save on that and get the best computer you can. That will be a powerhouse and HD Native will be a waste of money.
