Hello friends!

I recently downloaded PT First and unfortunately I ran into the 4k issue. My question, has the 4k issue been resolved for the full version of PT 12? Or any advice on how to remedy the issue, I'd like to use PT 12, but I need it to function properly on my laptop (Lenovo Y700).

Thank you for your help! :-)

I believe you can adjust "scaling" and probably make it work. I have avoided 4K screens until PT works better on them:o

It's a scaling issue, the text, mixing board and everything looks 1/4 of the size, since it's a 4k display. I'm just wondering if I'll encounter that same issue with PT 12 (I'm only using PT First but I wanna to upgrade).

Hi,

I have had this before, but a somewhat complex fix did the trick. You could take a look at this thread, towards the end:

The issue with some Air plugins can be fixed with the manifest file and works fine after that.

Got it...

Only Apple Apps have the IQ to do that.

I have a 5k and a 4k Monitor and most vendors of audio software - especially Universal Audio - are getting my pity when I see their childish interfaces. The LA-3A for instance is so small that NO ONE can see if using Native Screen Resolution. There is ONE manufac. FabFilter which has the brains to realize that in 2017 with Retina and 4k that a user interface should be scalable...

Waves too btw. They REALLY get into doing old school skeuomorphism but are too weak IQ-Wise to understand that it looks pixelated and SMALL on High Resolution Screens... Protools is it NOT fault at this. The individual Vendors are. That said - it is clear that AVID and Protools has NOT opted for the GREAT SDK Feature of macOS which has been around for 5 years - the scaleFactor - which conveniently enables the UI Developer to obtain the numbers of pixels per inch. A Retina Display for Example... has a scaleFactor of 2x and an iPhone 7 Plus a scaleFactor of 3x. Meaning that one needs to make "Things" 2x or 3x as big as normal - to adhere to what a user and human eyes are used to... Really simple and NOT much work - aside of course for thinking. But HEY ---- Screw DAW users - they use their Ears not their Eyes...

It makes me SO mad to think about HOW MUCH Waves charge for their Annual BS and AVID and and and.... And they dont even do the MOST BASIC updates to EARN their money.

I know the reason you purchased a 4K monitor was NOT to use it scaled but in your system preferences you can it scaling to something like 2560 x 1440 and it will look good. And be useable...

Another thing is that "things" ARE bound to be small if you crank 8 Million Pixels on to the SAME Geometry as a FullHD (4 times Less) 27 Inch. 4 Times as small. Sure you can FIT more on there but you WILL need a loupe glued to your eyes if running the display at native...

A 27Inch 4K Display is great for 4k video but VERY bad for general purpose computing - IF the software vendor has is NOT adhering to scaling factors. If you set a 5k to i.e. 2560 x 1440 then ALL images and art of the software vendor will have to be scaled up by a factor of 2. Making them pixelated. If you use the 5k @ native res. the image, portraying a slider head will be so small that you need a loupe...

A general Rule --- for 4k/5k Displays with Geometry <= 40 Inch.
1 - Only run it at Native Res when watching or editing movies in that format.
2 - Scale it down to Half (2560 x 1440) Width in system preferences to get super crisp Art and Text from Vendors who honored the price they took for the Update to their newest software version
