Currently running Pro Tools 10 with a digi 002 on my 2011 27" iMac i7 with OS 10.8.5. I want to upgrade my OS to Sierra and to Pro Tools 12. Also purchase the FireWire to thunderbolt converter for my Glyph drive. I have a Octopre with the adat card and plan to buy a Clarrett 8 pre with thunderbolt/adat io plus the Berhringer X touch as my 002 will no longer be compatible ☹️ (Loved my 002) Is my iMac getting long in the tooth? Are there any known issues with older iMacs with Sierra and PT 12? If so, what? What are your thoughts on my equipment upgrade choices? I'm trying find the best economical way to be current with my OS and Pro Tools(I can't afford a new iMac plus the above listed gear). Do I wait till I can afford a new iMac? Thoughts? Thanks.....

I had to get rid of a 2009 Mac Pro 8 core to go to Pro Tools 12. I'd stay at 11 until you can update the Mac. I can't live without the 'commit' command, so 12 was a must once I experienced it.

Avid has a chart; you don't need to guess if your iMac will work.
