Cut a bass track and the bass player left. I have a "pop" in the waveform. When it pops the actual waveform dips down of course. Can you rewrite or do I have to recut that part of the track ala punch-in.

Is there a way to correct this without recutting the track...because I don't have a bass player now?

Sorry for the newb elementary question.

Thanks.

Couple of ways to deal with it, if the arrangement allows, simply cut and paste from another part of the track, cross fade at the joins if required. If not snip the "pop"/distortion/whatever out, put the track in "warp" view. Using elastic audio, pull both sides together and put in a cross fade at the join.

Probably more ways than that, those are just a couple of my favourites.

Another option is to zoom in to the sample level and use the pencil tool and redraw the little pop.
It what we do when we restore older tracks that Waves restoration kit has trouble fixing.

If it is such a pain, then simply recut the track.
I usually create 3-4 playlists (play the track through 3-4 times)
That way there is a higher probability I get what I need at least from some portion of the song that I can comp and create a killer track.
