Hey guys whats up?

I just purchased Pro Tools M Powered 8.0.3 to start recording my band in my home using an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra midi box and whenever i try to install protools the mac installer quits just as fast as it opens. No screen comes up at all to promp me to continue or anything. I have registered my product and have tried trashing my prefrences and then reinstalling everything but still no luck! Has anyone else had this problem or know what i can do to fix it? THanks!

System Specs
Mac OS X 10.5.8
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Startup Disk: Macintosh HD

if you need anymore information please ask i will try my best to help you help me!!

Some more information on the installer issue..

I click the Install Protools icon from the cd screen. As soon as thats double clicked this message comes up

"This package contains a program that determines if the software can be installed. Are you sure you want to continue? If you're not sure about the source of this package, click Cancel to prevent it from running the program and installing the software."

So i click continue as i have seen this message many times and it has never prevented anything from installing in the past. The installer icon in the lower right hand corner has the arrow over it for like 2 seconds then i get this error screen

"The application Installer quit unexpectedly.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected
Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple.

Also, i reinstalled Mac OS X and cleared my hardrive before attempting to install protools to make sure that there was space.

When you click "Report" and look at the details, is there any indication of what's going on? (or not going on as the case may be)....
BTW 2GB RAM may be a little problematic going forward, if you can I would max it out to 4GB.

I read the report and there is no indication of anything, it looks just like a bunch of coding to me.

Sometimes it will indicate what the error code was. Usually near the top.

Did you by any chance use the migration assistant when you reinstalled your osx? I used M.A. for my applications and it caused major issues when I tried to install 8.0.3 (I also have 10.5.8 osx). Did you try downloading a fresh copy of 8.0.3 also? 8.0.3 works perfect now for me on 10.5.8.

Are u using a macbook or a macbook pro? im starting to think my 2gb ram may be causing this or the fact that i have a standard macbook. What do u mean a fresh copy of 8.0.3? Im attempting to install right off the disc that came with the programs box. Im not sure what migration assistant is but should i try reintalling the os again making sure not to use that?
Thanks.

Hi I did a little research and some folk on the Le side had trouble when installing from the disc's and requested a digital download from Digi , Then everything worked. I installed my version (as most do) from a digital download.(bought online) so I did not realize 8.0.3 that was on a disc?(thought they sold just 8.0) Download is about 4.5 gigs. If that does not work I would contact digi and ask them because this is not a normal problem. 2gb on your macbook should have nothing at all to do with the installation problems. I recently got a Pro but by old white macbook with 2gb ram worked pretty well.
