Any one know if 7.4 will work with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

I am looking to upgrade because Apple says their new 10.6 runs faster.

Please Advise anyone

Daveshow,

this is not the answer to your CPU issues. It seems instead of really looking for the problem your clutching at straws ready to splash out more $$$ on CPUs, Snow Leopard, and PTs 8. (Regarding PTs 8 I would recommend it anyway, as its a far better GUI experience than PTs 7)

But before you upgrade anything at least Uninstall Pro tools and then reinstall. I bet that simple one thing you havent even tried. I also doubt you even bothered trashing the preferences.

SL doesnt run faster per se no matter what people tell you. Go and look at the Logic Pro forums. guess what Daveshow....Ran of CPU messages....You will see plenty of them running SL and that's with users owning machines as powerful as yours and even more ram and bigger CPUs.

Digidesign HD systems (in theory) only supports Mac Pros and Dells... But there are a lot of non-Dell PC owners using HD Systems.

What Digidesign tries to communicate is: "We offer official support for pro tools 7.4 until Leopard 10.5.7. We are not responsible if you lose a client because you wanted the snow leopard wallpaper and now the client is pissed off because you can't open pro tools."

Now, after saying that maybe or maybe not it will work, I recommend you to stick with Leopard. I don't find Snow Leopard faster, the only good thing about it is that Snow Leopard install is lighter than Leopard. But unless you are limited by your HD I don't recommend you to change

Ew... Dells?

I wouldn't even want to run WoW on a Dell much less PTHD.

Custom builds are by far the way to go if you don't want to shell out for a Mac Pro.

Any other box PC comes with so much extra proprietary software installed, that for some things are actually needed just to run the system properly... it's just not worth trying to use professionally.

As far as I'm concerned, if you want a computer to run Pro Tools well, either get a Mac or build it yourself.

Pure luck.

I wanna see what happens as soon as any 3rd party plugs are installed.
